Good news about the visiting nurse!  And I would think once you can get involved with some organization like that they may be able to suggest other services that you may be eligible for.  It's all about knowing the right people and who to call.

I can imagine your bath project is going to be expensive. 💰 Everything is so high now!  But it's something that you need and must be done.  And most of those places offer financing and sometimes even a few senior discounts.  That is also something you need done correctly so you have to hire a competent company.  It's not something that you can afford to scrimp on.

All you can do is the best you can.  It's all any of us can do.  And you're doing fabulously!  I couldn't handle half of what you do, really.  I would have already given up and been a puddle of tears in the corner by now!😭  You are FIERCE and DETERMINED‼️💪

@cowboy sam

My condolences. ☹️

I just got back from my mailbox where I put in two sympathy cards for mailing today.  One was for a friend who's husband died this past weekend at 47.

It seems like so many people I know are leaving this earth lately.  It's getting to seem like I have fewer and fewer friends and even acquaintances that I have a past with.  No wonder old people get depressed.

I hope your medication works so you feel better.  I hope your daughter feels better soon too.🤞

Your temperature sounds wonderful, but not the humidity!  It's getting hot here but at least today the humidity is fairly low which makes it more tolerable.  Rain Friday.

Lubs ya.❤️

@geezerette : Thank you but I was a puddle of tears earlier. I called the cable company to see about switching over to streaming . I had the call on speaker phone because I couldn't understand  the customer service person. But he said : if we didn't like the streaming service : no switching back to cable. DH in the room very upset and said : "no" . He will start giving me $50 more per month for the cable bill .

Another decision about the shower remodel. I need to get estimate for what they call the wheelchair threshold where you use the shower curtains. Then wait until after my epidural on 6/7 to see if that makes a difference. Currently experiencing extreme difficulties when try to walk and stand. Once the pain starts on the top of my legs , down to my knees need to quickly sit down. I can only stand for a few minutes before this starts. Dealing with so much .

That doesn't sound right about not being able to switch back to cable. Maybe you can't just jump back into the same account but of course you can sign up for it again. It would be a different account and if you're getting any discounts now, those won't be applied.  I believe if you sign back up within a short time of disconnecting you're not eligible for any of the discounts that they advertise for "new" customers.  Each cable company has their own rules and length of time needed to be considered a new customer.  But if your DH doesn't want to switch, he needs to be prepared to pay the difference in costs between cable and streaming if that's one of his priorities.  You have different priorities right now with your health and shouldn't be expected to deal with that added stress.

Now that you mention a wheelchair, it might be a good idea to get a quote about having your shower wheelchair accessible right now.  You may be better off having the remodel done for that now instead of needing another makeover later if you do end up needing a chair to shower. It would certainly be less expensive to do that now than to have another redo later.

I feel for you so much.  It's so hard to deal with all that you are going through when you feel so awful physically.  Please don't try to do too much at once or I'm afraid you'll damage your already fragile health even more.❤️

@geezerette : Thank you, I appreciate your kind thoughts and concerns. I called two of my friends that use the same cable company. They were told the same thing. One kept the internet service and disconnected cable and purchased the Amazon fire stick, two months later called back to add cable back and was a higher rate. The other called back and wanted to switch back to cable from streaming and told not an option. So everything is very frustrating and confusing. One reason that the cable bill was increasing next month was the discount we had for one year is expiring. Two friends stated cable companies no longer willing to negotiate or offering extra discounts on cable bills but trying to get customers to choose the streaming instead of cable due to their increasing cost.

Yes, I have heard that cable companies are trying to get out of that business and just offer internet.  I wonder if that means they no longer offer cable to real new customers that have never been with them before?  I also think it depends on the company.

I have satellite, which I intend to keep until I can't afford it anymore or it is no longer offered either.  It's hideously expensive and I don't watch many of the channels, but I'm used to it and I like it.  And when I've looked at some of the streaming that I would need to get the same channels I watch now, it's not much cheaper and seems more complicated to me. I just hope it's around as long as I am because I hate the idea of changing as I get even older.  I have the tv on all day and most of the night so it's a big part of my life.

Well, it does sound like your DH made the right decision not to switch if he needs his cable.  He'll just have to figure out what else he can eliminate if the extra cost becomes a problem.  You've done all you could do on that front.🤷‍♀️

@geezerette : We feel the same way. We don't like change. Last year we had the old large cable boxes that also displayed the time. Cable company called to schedule appointment to switch out to the smaller cable boxes with out the displayed time. But the other change was on the tv with the guide and other options. DH was frustrated with the changes. I had to purchase a digital clock to go on top of the entertainment center.

Then last month, I decided to purchase the Amazon fire stick and put it on the tv in the den. Too many steps needed to select what you wanted to watch . We were considering not making any changes with the tv cable. Then considering my current health and increasing expenses , DH said we would try the streaming and if didn't like it - switch back to cable but now not the option. Very frustrating.
