@cowboy sam ...Those tiny little branches bring such joy and hope into our lives...Their innocence and wonder at everything around them reminds us of and  awakens us to the true meaning in life...Enjoy your blessed great grandson and all the wonder and happiness that he brings into your life...They are such a blessing and you are so blessed to be able to watch him grow and flourish...without having to be awakened in the middle of the night for feeding or changing diapers...lol....You did plenty of that yourself!...Now, it's time for you to just enjoy and give him all the love in  your heart that I am sure is overflowing!  Heart

@Yahooey ...What a wonderful day with your nieces and no reason to hang your head in shame for enjoying such a yummy homemade dessert overwhelmed with whipped cream! LOL

I'm just feeling bad that you didn't enjoy my personal concert just for you...I need to practice more and get "on key" a little better as the sound effects don't come out quite the same while hanging  out the car window  as it is much more difficult on my vocal chords! 🤣

@geezerette : Totally agree and understand.

DH and I were just talking about food and planning changes for the holidays.

We have learned what  trigger foods sets off on binge eating. Better not have them in the house or very small servings to avoid excessive leftovers.

Friend in Alabama always makes for DH a pecan pie and German Chocolate cake and for me a Red velvet cake that is delicious but too much for us and we really don't have visitors often . We will explain our changes to her and request nothing this year. I normally make her fudge and frosted sugar cookies but will not do it because I can't resist making extra for me.

Every Christmas DH sister makes us two separate fruit baskets and also loads it with candy. Last year, I was kind and gentle and requested that SiL : please do not make me a fruit basket and absolutely no candy. She said she would make a small basket and I said : No. She made a large basket and doubled up on the candy. We had no one to visit or give away and 3\4 went in the garbage. I will make my request again and if she brings me  a baske this year: In front of her - I will drop it in the garbage can . Let World War 3 begin. I want to be in control of what calories I eat. I will not make SIL her favorite cake for Christmas.

DH and I  have decided if we are craving for example : ice cream , it will be two individual pints. No more family packages of of anything. Now the hard part: Sticking to the plan.

@Yahooey : Special event , visiting with family and yummy food. Wonderful day.

I am so hungry, and hate to admit if that piece of pie was in front of me.....Mercy. For the Month of October our church has prayer and fasting. We select a 1\2 hour to fill the prayer chain and members are asked to fast one day a week. We chose Sunday, we don't eat but drink water or coffee during the day.

@cowboy sam , congratulations on your new great grand baby! ❤️

Returned from Ohio yesterday evening. Short visit with DD and doctor's appointment.

Chilly here in western North Carolina. The leaves are starting to change at the highest elevations. 🍁🍂🍁🍂

@SouthernBee

Oh yes, I understand about the friends and relatives that despite repeated requests, still insist on giving food that I can't and shouldn't eat.  I've tried explaining that these are indeed "trigger" foods for me, and they just reply "Eat just a little".  That's the point--I can't eat "just a little"!  Once I have the first mouthful, I'm done for.  Not only do I eat all they brought, it triggers cravings for other things I shouldn't have and I spiral down.  (Or more accurately spiral upward on the scale!)  I have also thrown out many a goodie given to me with good intentions.

And I'm of the same mind as you--this is not just about weight alone, but about my health.  And in your case, your DH's health too.  Which gets even more important as we age.

The only solution I have come across is to just not have that stuff in the house at all.  For a while I do have cravings for it, but they do ease as long as I keep eating what I should.  But the minute I have even "just a little" of those trigger foods, it makes it a lot harder to stick with what I should.

Hang in there!  You'll soon see the health benefits.  You can do it!💪
