@cowboy sam : I don't like this hot weather. Currently 95 at almost 8 p.m.

I hope you are feeling better and staying cool.

I called Amazon this morning and was on the phone for 25 minutes. I was polite and calm. They kept transferring my call and wanted me to do on line chat. Explained really needed to talk with Customer service rep. They really wanted me to send the grabber back. I told them: due to packing method used : they caused the damage. They sent  a text link for me to submit photos of the package as delivered and photos of the damage. They finally stated: Best offer: take partial refund and keep the item. The item cost $23 and stated partial refund of only 10%🙄😯😯😯😯. I stated seriously for what I spend with Amazon. My doorbell was ringing. Call me stupid but I took the offer. I would need to purchase package mailing tape : repackage and contact UPS for package pick up.

During all this: someone was at the front door and DH and his sister was coming in from the garage talking loud and asking me questions.

We had a robbery in the neighborhood - next door. The police was at the front door wanting to see recording from our Simplisafe video door bell. I told the policeman  that we were doing self monitoring. He said: Please consider activation of the service. I called Simplisafe. They stated they would give me a $9.99 month monitoring package. They stated they needed to check my system. Tech rep came on line and stated their updated programs don't support my system purchased in 2017. I stated this extra expense not planned for. He stated he would transfer me to a sales rep  that stated needed a new keypad and base unit. I asked for cheap package. I was put on hold and later told would offer 50%off with free shipping. I took the deal. Budget can't take any more extras this month.

DH had gone back outside and talked to the other policeman and then talked to the neighbor on the left side of us ( one robbed on right and not home). DH also talked to the neighbor across the street. DH relieved that I updated our security system. So now, every time I hear something : looking outside. Always something.

🤗🤗🤗❤❤🙏🙏

Hi Y'all: I am having problems with my Amazon firetablet. It will not keep a charge. Took all morning to charge to 70% and decreasing as I type. I put tablet on charger at 7 a.m. I have deleted as much as possile, cleaned out everything. It is 5 years old. Trade in value $25 plus hassle of returning old tablet. Doing research for replacement and one week before next pay day. With my eyes can't use my phone. Always something.

Oh dear, it is always something, isn't it?  Can you use it while it's plugged in?

I just got a new iPad a few weeks ago because my old one was getting very slow and some things got wonky with the last update. It was 7 years old, so I guess I got my money's worth since I use it every day.  I dreaded the process (which really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be) and had put it off as long as I could.  I didn't want to wait until I woke up some morning and it just didn't work at all.  But now I have payments again.  And soon I'll need a new phone, so my payments will be even higher.  All when I'm trying to keep spending down.

But this is life today.  You need functional digital devices to remain independent.  I hope it lasts long enough for you to get another.  Too bad it didn't do this during Amazon Prime Days, I'm sure they had some on sale.

Oh dear, sorry to hear about your robbery next door!

It's easy for the police to say you should spend the money for a better monitoring system, they don't pay the bill.

Where does it all stop?

@geezerette : Totally agree and understand. Enjoy your new Ipad.

I was dreading the process of setting up a new one. The Amazon Fire tablet has a pitiful app store. So @gardenman  in electronics forum gave me the information on how to work around and add Google app store. Well someone with good eyes and Tech smart would only take a few minutes but last time it took me 45 minutes. Since I have been dealing with a lot of stuff was trying to put this off as long as possible and was hoping for the next Amazon Prime days.

DH said that I could purchase another iPad but told him with all my pending medical expenses and some needed house repairs that I prefer the Amazon fire tablet.

I can use my tablet but need to keep it on the charger and it is very very slow. What ever page  that I'm on will disappear and take forever to reload.

I know that tech stuff is rapidly updating but for me: thinking the price for something like the iPad would last longer. I don't need the newest and greatest but something that works. My first iPad was refurbished and lasted two years. The next one was brand new and lasted 4 years. Posting with @gardenman in the electronics form we  concluded that mine had defects but Apple didn't agree. End of soap opera.

Enjoy your day and stay cool.

@geezerette : Totally agree and understand. I feel like I am stuck on  a circus ride of stuff that isn't fun.

One happy note. I was on the phone with the warranty service for DH defective recliner and claim filed in 9/4/24. They have agreed to send me a check $400. But lesson learned: no more extended warranty purchase for furniture. Moving along......

That's great that you're finally getting a result on the chair after all this time.  I'm sure it will help with all the expenses you're having this month.

I agree about not buying extended warranties.  I don't buy them for anything anymore.

I finally ate out  first time this month in a resturant yesterday   with my daughter in a reopened family resturant in my town.

The new owners really did a great job redoing the inside!

I had a fried eggs,cheese on a english muffin...didn't  want sausage on it,daughter had a omelet.

My daughter and i then went toanother town 12 miles from us...seems like everything is that distance to shop for groc.,etc.

She took me to a very big auction house store...was huge...no we just looked  and didn't buy anything...then we went to a near by thrift store.

I found a marcasite  earrings on the counter earring holder...i don't think they knew they was" marcasite"  ortherwise  they would have been in enclosed glass holder  to ask to see/buy them!

Think they might have cost me $4.00...on Ebay..they would have been probably$ 20.00 more

I also bought daughter  and i some nice clothing...and i  then told  my daughter i wanted to to return to my house  as i was tired,it was hot  and humid out also!

My big day out lol!

But when we got back to my town i had her stop at our Dollar General Store and bought some food items  and they had  4- spring  water! gallon bottles of water!

Later we had severe weather warnings  and rain  ,wind blew in and out after a bit....not a lot of rain  but enough to water the yard...and no puddles!

Today..its muggy  but only in 70's!Yard will be mowed today  instead of yesterday.

Lubs ya!Heart

One thing people can do for their safety is to install deadbolt locks on their outer doors.  We have them.

We also have an ADT security system.

No, not many robberies where we live.  But a friend had the scare of a lifetime when she returned home one day and caught someone robbing her home, many years back. He abruptly left after flashing a gun or a knife at her!  That is a lesson learned for us.  Someone can take whatever, but our personal safety is paramount.

If we leave a car outside the garage for some reason, the doors are always locked.  We always keep a few lights on in the house, especially if we are not home.

No matter what, anything can happen.  My parents never locked their doors while I was growing up, back in the olden days!

What a nice day out you had with your daughter!  And how sweet of you to buy her some clothing!  Those earrings you found must be sure pretty!  Many years ago I used to go to a flea market with a friend.  If you have a sharp eye, you can find some good stuff!

Glad you had a break from all the worries you have been going through!  I have finished a few big worries myself.  It feels as though a weight has been lifted - how bout you?
