@geezerette ...Wow, what a gorgeous house!...Is this in your neighborhood?...Those Santas are amazing!...I think one centered between the windows and then the other one on another side of the house would work even better.

@MyShadowLove

No.  It's just a photo I got from a friend that I thought was clever and cute enough to share.

My neighbors aren't smart or ambitious enough to do anything like this!😄

@geezerette ....😂

Hi Y'all. I believe in Christmas miracles and received mine this afternoon. My appliance friend called and I explained everything and apologized. He spent two hours working on the freezer - refrigerator. The first thing he did: Unplugged it and moved it out and took the back off of the refrigerator to get to the control board and called GE( this was never done by any of the previous tech. He also verified with GE that the last installed defrost heater was still good. He suspected that the defrost sensor behind the defrost heater was bad( none of the other people checked for this).

He used a steam cleaner on the interior wall and the ice accumulation was as bad as before. He had trouble removing the parts to get to the defrost sensor that was a tiny tube about two inches. It was bad. He tested two brand new sensors before installing them. He checked and double checked everything. He rechecked the back control board after installing the new part and had higher ratings on everything. It was our pleasure to give him a generous tip. He advised waiting 24 hours before refilling everything.

Tomorrow - I look forward to cancelling the other service call and cancelling the AHS house appliance warranty. Lesson learned.Just noticed that the noise level in the kitchen is considerably reduced except for the ice maker filling back up.Plus my precious DH paid for the service call.Friend gave me his cell phone number instead of just the office number so that I can talk with him about any appliance issues hopefully to prevent any stupid mistakes from me.😀😀😀

@SouthernBee

You are not stupid! Things sometimes happen for a reason...and your fridge had wrong things done to it maybe cause thats how warrentry workers are taught how to " not" fix things to get new replacements from warrenty company.😡..

Now cancel out from company  and thats "not" a stupid mistake!!!...Its the right thing to do!

You do not make stupid mistakes.!!..

We just might make a wrong decision and i've done pleanty in  my 82 years...lol!

things just happen  and we learn from it  good or bad.

lubs ya!🤗🤗Heart

I agree with @cowboy sam --you are not stupid!  Far from it.

We learned the hard way that most extended warranties aren't worth the money.  We found out from our best repairman (who unfortunately has since moved😢) that those warranty jobs only pay a minimum set rate to the repair company, so chances are good that the best repairmen won't take warranty work.  It's okay if your repair is a simple one, but if it's complicated like yours obviously has been you probably won't get your problem fixed properly.  We decided it was cheaper in the long run just to pay a local repair shop when needed.

Another thing that your own repairman will tell you is when an appliance isn't worth repairing and that you're better off just getting a new appliance.  A warranty company will continue to try and piecemeal a repair as long as they can since most have some sort of reimbursement or replacement clause.  They don't want to honor those at all.  They'll just keep stalling you with repair appointments.  And in the meantime, your appliance isn't working.

Another thing I did was to ask the repairman what appliances he'd recommend.  He said most are generally the same quality nowadays (not nearly as good as they used to be), but he didn't like certain brands because he couldn't get parts--and this was years before the pandemic and all our supply issues.

Let's hope that this time your fridge is finally fixed!🙏

@cowboy sam : Thank you. I called this morning to cancel the repair appointment and they didn't ask the reason.

Then I called the warranty company. The didn't want to cancel the contract. They offered to refund the $100 service charge to refused. Then they offered to suspend my monthly payments for three months since this started in October and I refused and stressed please just cancel. Then he said he needed to charge me the monthly fee of $31.57 for a cancellation fee. I asked for confirmation of the cancelled contract. In the morning I will contact my bank and cancel any future payments.🤗
