@Yahooey's squirrels are very clever.  They peel the skin off of her tomatos.  LOL

@Bri369 ...Oh my gosh, that is too funny!...So they peel the skin off and then eat the tomatoes or do they just eat the skin?...Fussy little devils!...LOL

@MyShadowLove

She found some half eaten ones, and then some skins on the ground.  How did they peel those?  LOL

@Bri369 ...Oh No, I'm so sorry that this happened to @Yahooey's tomatoes but , at the same time,  she can feel good that she has helped to feed some of Nature's beautiful creatures...not sure she will look at it that way though...LOL

They have very sharp teeth...probably like a knife, so they just diligently peeled away...They are very fussy!...I just love Nature and find it fascinating to observe and watch the behavior of all.

I have something funny to share...My neighbor on one side of me loves gardening very much...to the point where her yard is covered in all kinds of flowers and bushes...However, she also has all kinds of deterrents to keep Nature's beautiful creatures away....rabbit deterrent, bird deterrent, squirrel deterrent...name it...she has it...She does everything possible to keep them out of her yard.

Meanwhile, here I am with birdfeeders and a birdbath and no deterrents whatsoever....I enjoy sharing with Nature...After all, their homes have been taken away by all of the developers and building that goes on and so we find more and more of Nature in our yards.

My neighbor and I get along very well, but I do have a slight feeling that she may be somewhat annoyed at how my husband and I enjoy helping these beautiful creatures out and, therefore, the reason for all of her deterrents!...LOL

@MyShadowLove @Bri369

u would enjoy this...

the cherry tomatoes have lost their flavor for a few weeks so i decided to pull out the plants - tired of seeing skins everywhere and they have been dropping also

i left the reg size tomatoes bc they still taste good - for now...

yesterday morning - i notice a reg size tomato in neightbor's cross beam

they dont grow tomatoes - i tried removing it but couldnt reach it

this morning - the tomato moved from 1 beam to another

it probably isn't a huge tomato as the sizes are much smaller than in august

but still - it is bigger than their heads.... how did they take it off the vine and climb up there? why move it - isnt it heavy?

you can see the stains from yesterday

Hi @Yahooey ...Oh my goodness, they are definitely determined little creatures and, especially, being in the City, makes them even more determined and aggressive for survival so they will do whatever they have to...Do you usually experience this each year with your garden?

@Yahooey : I feel your pain about them darn squirrels. I have experience with what they can do and they are the reason that I stopped .  I only had about 5 of the 5 gallon buckets to grow my tomatoes and peppers and I tried at the time every hack that was promised to keep away... Not.🤷‍♀️😳

i think part of the critter situation was that Zoe's mom (a stray) wander into our yard 2008 passed in Fall of 2020. I have seen her on and off and i know she had a litter of kitten prior to Zoe. She had them in the yard - I saw them and since she saw that i saw them - she moved them.

A couple of years later - she was pregnant and i began feeding her - she had Zoe. A single kitten was what I found. I still continued feeding her and TNR her after the necessary weeks where Zoe didnt need milk. We didnt interact much as she was super skittish. I took Zoe inside after a vet visit.

And so Zoe remained an indoor cat and her mom Kitty was an outdoor/indoor (basment) cat when the weather was super cold - she had shelter and food. She would leave the premises and come back later for food.

She wouldnt let me touch her until a couple of years. She never let my mom touch her. The most she did was rub against her and then run away. Everytime it snowed - i would shovel a path for her so she can go explore. Kitty was a good cat and i lubs her even if she wasn't an inside cat. Her ashes are under some tulips I planted in a corner of the yard unless sthe critters dug them out. She shooed the critters away. Since she passed - I let Zoe into the yard and she is NOT a critter deterrent.

They met once and super growl and hiss. Kitty is used to strays and will fight or at least hissed bc I hear it at night sometimes.
