BIL confirmed that ur tomato plants died?

idk... but they were established plants and only w/o water will they die

which is weird considering u have gotten quite a few gully washers -

i lubs that term

i'm sorry that happened but glad that ur peppers are thriving

i dont remember why you dont plant tomatoes yourself - critters eating them?

you can plant tomatoes in large containers and put them on top of  benches so no need to  bend down if that is somtehting you are interested in

@Yahooey : Just don't understand about the tomato soap opera- just well......

I hate to admit but just not physically able to do a lot of things. Very difficult to go out in my back yard. The area is flat but the grass is thick and a lot of small holes in the yard and not good using a walker.349E1DDD-3ECB-4D5E-91CC-FE32BD34B76A.jpeg

@cowboy sam :Thank you. Well interesting. BIL gave me a card with $25. SIL gave me several things: 5B2C6F0A-0CAC-4426-9082-4CBC877F7545.jpeg

Her reply: this is a different shape to put the pepper jelly in. Info on package : spice jars and other ideas: do not use for processing jelly.

These are pretty jars but the 8 ounce jars are too big to give people with pepper jelly. Especially when I am not physically able to garden and have to purchase all ingredients to make the jelly. I have told her several times. Thanks to her - in the last year she has now given me 4 cases of this size and I am running out of storage space. BIL stated: I thought you used the smaller jars for the peppers and I replied yes: because when I make a batch of jelly it takes 30 large jalapeños and two bell peppers, water, sugar, vinegar and pectin. Plus using the 8 ounce jars would be 2 jars processed instead of 4 or 6 using the 4 ounce jars. Plus considering all the time and energy needed to make jelly. SIL laughing stated : Well people love your jelly and want bigger jars. I laughed and replied: Well- you just need to go to the store and purchase everything yourself and you make the jelly for everyone. She replied: I don't have the equipment: well then just buy whatever you need to make the jelly. SIL also gave me an Amazon gift card. I just have to accept this but they really don't have the money to do things like this. Sad because next week : She will probably be asking her brother money to pay utility bills or whatever. Just crazy.

Please understand: I try to appreciate any gift. I don't understand but her children sent extra gifts and in our 20 years of marriage this has never happened before: one was a large gift bag full of office supplies. Another gift bag with a beautiful throw monogrammed : " Pam's Chair " for my chair in the family room.

SIL came back over yesterday to play board games and wanted more cake and ice cream. I had extra gallon of tea for her to take home. I didn't give her any cake to take home because about two pieces left. I normally invite my two other friends over for cake and ice cream but can't do it this year. I received flowers and several phone calls.

DH gave me a very generous WalMart gift card, DVD of the 3 Wedding Veil movies plus made his delicious spaghetti sauce. So for today's meal: just heat up the sauce, cook spaghetti and toast the french bread-very easy and delicious meal. I am so very thankful and blessed.🤗♥️🙏🥤🥤🥤

@SouthernBee   I intentionally waited to post this on your birthday even though I decided around July 4th that I was going to write it. Thank you for something you unknowingly did. A couple of years ago you posted about your husband having PTSD and how fireworks bothered him. I had never heard this before. After thinking about it, it made sense so I filed away in my memory. The following year when the holidays began to approach when people traditionally had fireworks I started to tell people about this. I also ask them to check with the Vets in their lives to see if fireworks bothers them. Not everyone gets back to me with a reply but enough did that I knew I should continue. Each time a person did come back they thanked me because some of them were told that their loved one/friend hated fireworks because they triggered terrible memories. I challenge them to spread the message.

Fast forward and this year I was watching the news and they did a story about how fireworks can negatively impact veterans. A friend asked if I had ever heard this before. I was pleased to be able to say "Yes. I know about this because a friend shared about her husband who is a Veteran and how he suffers through this evey year". My friend is a teacher and he stated when school resumes he is going to inform his classes about this. In November when they are studying about Veteran's Day he may offer as an extra credit assignment for his students to interview a veteran and add this to the list of questions. We know not everyone is affected but if it helps at least one Vet I can only think: That's a good thing.

When we post things we never know the impact it will have on others. Sometimes an inadvertent but important message within a post can potentially spread. Thank you again for enlightening me and by extension others.

@Tique : Thank you. I read your post to DH. He said that he appreciated your post and everything you are trying to do and the thoughtfulness of the school teacher and special projects. We both are thankful and appreciate this. Thank you for taking the time to share.♥️♥️🤗🤗🤗
