@SouthernBee   I intentionally waited to post this on your birthday even though I decided around July 4th that I was going to write it. Thank you for something you unknowingly did. A couple of years ago you posted about your husband having PTSD and how fireworks bothered him. I had never heard this before. After thinking about it, it made sense so I filed away in my memory. The following year when the holidays began to approach when people traditionally had fireworks I started to tell people about this. I also ask them to check with the Vets in their lives to see if fireworks bothers them. Not everyone gets back to me with a reply but enough did that I knew I should continue. Each time a person did come back they thanked me because some of them were told that their loved one/friend hated fireworks because they triggered terrible memories. I challenge them to spread the message.

Fast forward and this year I was watching the news and they did a story about how fireworks can negatively impact veterans. A friend asked if I had ever heard this before. I was pleased to be able to say "Yes. I know about this because a friend shared about her husband who is a Veteran and how he suffers through this evey year". My friend is a teacher and he stated when school resumes he is going to inform his classes about this. In November when they are studying about Veteran's Day he may offer as an extra credit assignment for his students to interview a veteran and add this to the list of questions. We know not everyone is affected but if it helps at least one Vet I can only think: That's a good thing.

When we post things we never know the impact it will have on others. Sometimes an inadvertent but important message within a post can potentially spread. Thank you again for enlightening me and by extension others.
