Re: &Prediction: Thanksgiving 2018

I keep hearing reports that B&M stores' sales are down (I avoid the Mall like the plague all year, nevermind this time of year, so I can't report on parking lot crowd size), and I absolutely believe that there is one reason and one reason only that stores decide to close on Thanksgiving.  Or any other day.

Re: Prediction: Thanksgiving 2018

It will be interesting to hear totals on the black Fri sales.  My local walmart moved in a huge amount of merchandise for the sale.  Their parking lot was over capacity on Thurs nite.  I stopped in there on Fri around noon, and most of that merchandise was gone.  Wow.

Parking lots and parking structures packed to capacity.  All three days.  Cars going 'round and round' trying to find a spot.  I guess it depends on the area(s) of the country.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: Prediction: Thanksgiving 2018

I went grocery shopping Friday and it was quiet and almost empty. Loved it. That said, any road leading to the mall or the areas with all the big box stores (Costco, TJ Maxx, restaurant parks, etc) were bumper to bumper. Parking lots were packed. People were out, that's for sure. Saturday was no better.

I'll hit the stores in the morning during the week to avoid the crowds. I love shopping but I HATE the rudeness, the shoving, the....anger that I see when the holidays hit and people are shopping but not happy about it. Online works because stores are always out of stock and no salesperson wants to help. There are REASONS people shop online...it's not always about time management, trust me.

The grocery store is the only place I go on black Friday, no one is ever there.  I buy really early before the holiday so by that day I really need to stock up.  So quiet and no crowds.

Re: Prediction: Thanksgiving 2018

Our local news did a report already that said locally BF sales were lackluster.  Places like Walmart were crowded with long lines but strip malls and shopping malls didn't have the number of people in them as years past.
