Pre Nups. Just for conversation.

I have never agreed with pre nups, but I have never been faced with anything like that.

I'm watching Marrying Millions when I have time.  A few couples are now talking Pre nups.  One couple has been together 5 years and have a child and now want to marry.  His father is pressing for a Pre nup.  She is angry, but I agree with her.

On a side note, my stepmother and father have been married 35 years and she claims my father had her sign one.  He says no and neither of them have any money anyway.  So who knows.  lol.  or cares.

Just wondering other thoughts.

Depending on the situation a prenup might be necessary .... 😃

I think pre nups are important if you’re either worth a lot of money or get married later in life & you have family that you want to look out for.

Young people just starting out in life don’t need one.

I think they're essential. Betteryet, just don't get married. I've personally never liked the idea of marriage as a concept. The world would be much better without it.

At this point in my life, I wouldn't consider getting married without a pre-nup in place! Certainly, I'd hope that most people don't enter a marriage with idea of what might happen to their assets if it doesn't work out, but I'm also a firm believer that you've got to protect yourself and everything you've worked for.

I agree with @NicksmomESQ .  Just starting out, if nobody has anything, I wouldn't do it.  For an older couple, absolutely necessary.

ETA... @FrostyBabe1 was writing as I was.  I'm in full agreement with her as well.

@Goldengate8361  You’re certainly entitled to your opinion.I respectfully disagree. I think marriage is a wonderful thing. However, I know that it isn’t for everybody. To each their own.

@NicksmomESQ I think long term, loving relationships are wonderful. But "marriage" is a completely different, separate concept. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't misunderstood.

Re: Pre Nups. Just for conversation.

If you are older or have money or property, a pre-nup is essential.

If you have nothing starting out, it is not necessary for most people.

I know of couples who should have had a pre-nup and didn't.  Sometimes marriages don't work out and you could lose everything you worked for.  Some people marry to get ahead.  It is sad, but it happens.
