@Love my grandkids  India is a Hindu dominated country.  For all we know, they probably dominate the "government."

There are certain "religious" factions in the U.S. that do not follow COVID restrictions too.  None as large as India.

I will not judge, nor speculate this information, but am sending PRAYERS of love, healing, and protection for the country and it's people as they endure this humanitarian crisis.🙏🙏❤

Besides the way my heart feels about the Indian people suffering, my practical side is thinking of the implications this crisis will have upon the US and the rest of the world. Chances are that the crisis in India will affect our supplies over here. I expect shortages of medications. It's also very important to realize that the fight against COVID in one country directly affects the rise of new variants that will affect other countries.

@Mindy D, I have no such concern about our supplies. In fact, I think we're going to have a surplus, unfortunately.

@SandySparkles, that's really the point! I do hope that as many countries that can will help them with their needs right now.

I see no basis for claiming that the crisis in India will impact our medical supplies in the United States. We are sending them assistance because we have excess and it’s the humanitarian thing to do.

I view the situation in India as a combination of dense population and a failure of leadership. Please don’t make this a denigration of the Hindu religion.

My sister and I were just discussing India and the virus a few days ago.

This is extremely horrifying. Over a billion people live in India and I'm very scared for the population. I don't even want to think about the major loss of human beings happening.

@bikerbabe I didn't see any denigration of their religion but those huge festivals were obviously not a good idea, regardless of what the celebration was.

@bikerbabe @suzyQ3 I didn't mean that sending things to aid the Indians would impact our supplies. I'm not concerned that would hurt us either. I meant that with so many people sick over there the products that are manufactured there and then sent over here could be affected. This includes the many pharmaceuticals that are made over there and sent here. The country accounts for around 30% to 40% of the US generics market. India is the largest provider of generic drugs in the world. For example, most of the  generic blood pressure meds are made there for us. For more about this, look up Sun Pharma and Aurobinda Pharma.

We need to begin manufacturing more oxygen NOW.  That virus could be here in a month and our situation could be critical.  We can't afford to be unprepared.
