I would love the opportunity to find out how I'd handle something so life altering. I don't think my life would change much since I do not have any family other than my mother and my furbaby. I would finally stop working after 42 long years for sure and finally be able to take a real vacation. I would not announce anything to the world. After I'm gone all the $$$ would go to various charities - mostly for animals.

The lucky winner has two children ... honestly, they could be in danger (kidnapping for ransom).   As the OP said, have your 'trustee' accept the check.

(All states should have an anonymous policy like my state, but they want to be "transparent" about the lottery--oh please, they aren't about any other monetary policy regarding their expenditures!)

I have a comment to make. I don't mean to sound like a goody two shoes, but if I'd won the lottery and wanted to quit my job, I'd give two weeks notice. I don't think it's very nice to the company she's worked for for over 30 years and her co-workers to just cut and run like that. 

Turn in your notice, enjoy your life. But don't treat the company and your co-workers like that.

Maybe she was thinking she needed to live for today.  Her husband was killed waiting at a bus stop a few months ago.  Life is unpredictable.

wow, i had not heard that! i hope she has a long life and that it is filled with good memories of how she used that money to make herself and others smile a bit brighter each day.

@gidgetgh   i so agree with you.  i would not want to burn bridges, i mean i'm sure she has friends there.   maybe her job was stressful but after 32 years in Health CARE emphasis on Care i wish she had given them a litle consideration to her managers and co-workers, at least to help with the transition.  maybe with all that money she doesnt care, 

i hope she fares well with her windfall

I have not seen that woman on TV, she well could be "unsophisticated " like someone here said. So what? She got lucky and we did not!!!!

But I read that she lost her husband 9 months ago, he was a disabled fireman and was crushed to death by a truck while sitting on the bus stop.

Now its gonna be a long line of suitors.....

watching the curse of the lottery on ID, a sudden wealth adviser said when people win very large amounts of money-they experience 2 emotions:

elation and then fear......................
