They say we will get very bad winds.  Power outages might happen.

I've started charging everything.

I've removed masks from the windowsill.

Good luck.  Do you keep your masks on the windowsill?

Sometimes, yes.  If I've worn it for a short period of time I'll put it on the windowsill for the sunshine and to chill for a day or so.

It's a use I found for the banana bunch stand.

Fill up some clean containers with water, just in case. Find all your batteries and flashlights. Turn your freezer to its coldest setting. Find your phones car charger in case you need to recharge if the power outage lasts. Flame less candles are awesome. 💜Stay safe.

Re: Pouring rain in NYC

[ Edited ]

@Mindy D Thank you!  I've never lost water or gas.  Ever.  That's going back to the first big East Coast power outage in 1968.

But I've always filled up the bathtub nonetheless.  I never even thought about that and might have forgotten to do it this time.

By the way @Mindy D, I admire you for posting your prior thread.  Good on you.

I've lived here for a few years now, and not sure I will ever adjust to going thru this all the time.  I didn't realize these storm were so frequent in this area - every year we go thru this.

It's been hot n heavy here since about 7PM, slowly gaining in intensity.  We did lose cable/internet about 10:30pm, but it came back on within 20 minutes or so.

We had a lot of tornado warnings when the storm was further south off the SC coast.  Looks like the eye is making landfall just West of where I'm at - I'm guessing around Ocean Isle or Sunset Beach and then the storm looks like it will follow I-95 up the Eastern coast.

No flooding that I can see, of course there is debris from trees and such I can see.  Plenty of rain (which we did need) and the winds were pelting the rain horizontally.  It is a quick mover, thankfully, but I'll be up til it dies down - they say around 1am-2am.
