Possibly An Answer To My Big Credit Card Fraud

Back in February and March I wrote that my credit card had been charged with almost $4,000 in fraudulent cable TV payments. My bank took care of everything.

Today I received a letter from the company I buy my furnace filters from (Filters-Now) that their computer system was hacked during that time period, and it was the same credit card.

Maybe just a coincidence. Or maybe not. Still it's good to have a possible explanation.

I think it's pretty much a 100% certainty that the hacker was looking for credit card numbers and got yours.

I just went through a huge fraud situation with my card.  I received an email from my card company about something that wasn't me. For the next 3 weeks almost daily  more fraud showed up. At least 40 to Amason. Luckily I  had fraud protection  and they took care of everything.

I still have no idea how they got my number. I even have it in a RFID wallet.

Today I called my bank to give them the info about Filters-Now. Honestly I thought they would say they didn't need it at this point.

Wrong. They were thrilled to get the info for their fraud database. They were also shocked at how long the hacking went on without anyone at Filter-Now noticing what was happening.

@sweetee2

I just had the second of two of my credit cards compromised within the last six months.  The card company denied the suspicious charges and contacted me immediately.  My account was closed and a new card issued.

But for the past two weeks I've been getting several spam texts that various accounts of mine have been closed and to "click on this link".  They really went to town with the Amazon texts--I was getting at least one a day, sometimes more, all with the same type of message.  I reported them and deleted the text of course.  I've been checking my Amazon account regularly and it's still fine.  I think the hackers know how many people have Amazon accounts so they use that ruse a lot.😡
