Here in NYC it has begun the cool down.  It's cloudy and I hear the rumbling of thunder.  Could it be a time for a break from the heat?  Even if it's just with the rain?

It has been dreadfully hot here in NYC.  I hope this heat spell is coming to an end (for a little while) at least.

How about where you are?  Any relief in sight?

Unfortunately, my answer is no.

I'm south of Boston and the heat, combined with humidity has been oppressive. It's been going on for days with nothing but more of the same to come.

I hope you get some rain and therefore some relief. It was supposed to rain and thunderstorm today but so far - nothing.

I worry about those without air conditioning or any means to keep cool.

@DSD2 rain was not forecasted for today in NYC.  However, mother nature and her infinite power has decided to make a different appearance in the way of a lovely thunderstorm to cool us down a bit.  I have not seen lightening so I'm ok.  I will keep windows open a bit.  Don't like lightening AT ALL.

Perhaps it will break the cycle.  If not, I will enjoy the breeze for as long as I can.  Windows open just enough to catch fresh air from the outside.  Feels good.

Here's hoping it will move in your direction toward Boston.....

We just had 10 drops of rain. Now we are back to sun and white puffy clouds.

This was our weather forecast.
Monday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 p.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain.

Here's hoping @alliswell gets some rain too.

You might.  We weren't supposed to get the thunderstorm we have right now.  No word of it by weather reporters.  Hah!  Mother nature does what she wants, despite what the meterorologists say sometimes....

10 drops of rain is not enough.  We were supposed to be bombarded with one of the hottest days of this heat spell today.  It's still time for the Sun to come out, but it won't be as strong and for not as long as it is nearing 4pm.  We woke to clouds (I was so gateful).

@drizzellla Maybe you'll get a good downpour....

@DSD2 I'm south of Boston too and it's been absolutely miserable.  I was hoping today would be a little better because it's not as hot but it's worse because the humidity is so high.  I really despise this weather, hate when it's too hot to enjoy being outside.  Fall/cool weather can't come fast enough for me!

I do too.  They open "Cooling Centers" for the daytime in NYC.  One person has died from heat expsoure in NYC since all of this began.
