YOU GO HUBBY!
BTW, I do carry at times, but when I'm off alone shopping, Dr. office (which most of mine now have signs saying "No Weapons", even with a license) etc., I always have a taser in my purse and car, that I bought online.
It's not illegal in my state to have a taser, but of course everyone should check their local/state laws before carrying one.

I certainly hope @KingstonsMom, that those involved are under the prison floors today. I truly believe that there are people in this world that are of no redeemable purpose and shouldn't be here. People like this.
I agree, a waste of skin.......

@KingstonsMom, I had been looking down and saw this man looking in the driver side window.. scared the bejeepers out me.... then here came hubby out the door.. I thought, first thing lay on the horn!!
You can't be too careful and I can see where you'd carry, I have no problem with that. We travel to Memphis often- as my son and MIL live there.. that place, well, has changed and you couldn't pay me to be out by myself. His friend is always on his hip plus another one hidden in the car.

The Daily Mail is not the most reliable source of news and leans toward tabloid sensationalism.
CBS news has another story and they included information from the local police who say that this is not a thing. It's good that she was aware and cautious, as everyone should be, but it certainly does not appear that this is a new kidnapping ploy. She decided it was based on a single experience, but the evidence doesn't back that up.
Police are investigating, but the local police sergeant they interviewed says:
“Nothing like this has ever happened before,” Wangler told CBS News. “There have been no other incidences like this. It’s kind of unknown as to what or why or who [did this].”

Thanks for the info ladies. I hadn't heard about this one. We had a kidnapping in a community three days ago and it was in a fairly safe and quiet area.
I know in the past, Vans with doors that slide open park very close to a driver's door so that the driver has to squeeze in to get in her car. The door would slide open and grab the female and drive away. If there was an accomplice, they would get her keys and drive away in her car.
Scary stuff.

I guess that whether is it 'fake news' or a real ongoing phenomenon, it serves as a wake up call and reminder to all of us to be extra careful when 'odd' things occur. There could be a legitimate reason or it could be a set up. If not sure, treat it as a danger.

That's why the thread title says "Possible" and full disclosure of what the local police said is available in the link provided.
This 'ploy' has happened to others on FB from other people/areas, which is where her parents read about it, to warn her.
I think that if it's a remote possibility, that it's worthy of being aware of, but that's just me.

IG: Yes, be careful and stay safe. Recalling my mom always saying 'Be careful', and my dad always saying 'Good luck' as I was leaving the house to get into my car and drive off. ![]()

Evil people have always been in the world; we're just able to find out about it 24/7 now.
I rarely go out after dark because there are sh*ts in the world and WE have to be careful because they don't care. Raising my children to not be afraid, to not ignore someone who appears to need help is a double-edged sword; even their "friends" could betray them (how truly sad and yet....it does happen).
My state does not allow private citizens to carry. However, they now, after many hearings, allow you to carry a taser ; the range where I practice is offering classes in how to use these. Guess who just signed up?
I carry mace with me but I'm liking the taser option more.

Oh, you're right, @KingstonsMom. I missed the quote from the police in the Daily Mail story because they buried it under a completely irrelevant prom picture of the girl.
