The representative might have been on the phone dealing with a complicated matter. I would have waited 20 minutes and left if no one came out to tell me approximately how long I would have to wait.

Around here - it depends on the day of the week. Mondays are always busy.
I've only had a few occasions to speak to a rep - but never waited more than a couple of minutes.

In my neck of the woods, you have to see the Bank Manager to open new accounts.
You wait in a chair outside his door until he finishes with the person ahead of you.

I don't know but why not just wait until you need to leave and not keep looking at your watch and counting the minutes? Either stay or leave. Your choice.
Some wait their turn, some feel put upon and leave in a huff. Depends.

We have to make an appointment to talk to someone.
Banks have cut back on their staff just like everyone else.
Again, our new reality.

When we deposit our money in a bank, we are doing them a favor. They aren't extending a favor to us. That financial advisor shouldn't have kept me waiting even five minutes.
In addition to savings and checking, I had CDs at Citizens. I closed those too and took the early withdrawal penalty.

That sounds like the old saying, cutting off your nose to spite your face! Ha-ha!
There have been so many bank scandals that getting a reliable and honest bank is a priority for me. Banks perform a valuable service for those that know how to use them appropriately.
The bank personnel are NOT your personal staff--they have hundreds or thousands of customers, and in my area, there are very poor people, and extremely rich people who all use the bank, and the staff tries to treat all equally.
Of course, for me patience is a virtue, and I will always try to be understanding about an issue first before I would ever react in a negative way. Everybody in the working world is a bit frantic these days, so kindness is key!

I would assume that this institution really doesn't want my business, and I would go elsewhere.
I wonder why seeing a person is necessary? This is 2023, not 1953.
Seeing a person would be NECESSARY if a person needed information regarding different or multiple accounts. Some people don't WANT to open a new account on line. It's SAFER to open an account at the bank.
