Funny you should mention this. Before I sat down at the computer we were saying how computers have changed banking. We usually e-mail our banker and he gets back w/what we need from the bank. I am not a good "waiter",so probably a few minutes.

I would assume that this institution really doesn't want my business, and I would go elsewhere.
I wonder why seeing a person is necessary? This is 2023, not 1953.
Not everyone does everything on-line, nor do they want to do it on-line. My in-laws don't even know how to turn a computer on let alone figure out how to open a new account on-line.

If the banker is helping another customer, I'd just wait. I want the banker to take his/her time with me so I don't mind if that's also done for another customer.

I would have probably waited about 15 minutes, and then I would have made an appointment, so that it wouldn't happen to me again!

I would wait however long it took to do the business I went there to do. My bank has cut their local staff in half, so some account issues just take longer. It is what it is.

Lines are usually long and slow and as everyone mentioned - staff is minimum
i needed to make a cash deposit - no line and i was next
deposit went fine - asked if I needed to see a rep to get a box of checks
all 4 reps were busy with customers
she said - i can handle that for you - GREAT!
i showed her my bank statment with numerous accts listed but
1 was circled with need checks written on it
there was copious amounts of keyboard clicking and more cicking and more clicking
my name - address - was already in their system
it took more time than the deposit - why? don't know
could you imagine how long it would take for something that needed communication?
Here's another weird thing ....
I usually bank at the ATM, but for some reason needed a teller. I was also depositing a small check, so I gave it to her to process and she had to get a paper slip and fill out my account number, etc to be able to do so.
Yes, the teller had to fill out a PAPER DEPOSIT SLIP!
What good is all this technology if it doesn't help tellers attend to us more quickly? I felt sorry for all the people still in line behind me. I could have just popped the check in the ATM, but thought it would be "faster" to give it to the teller.
Makes no sense, IMO.

Keeping me waiting when I had an appointment was disrespectful. It's not the sort of business I want to benefit from my deposits.
I always maintain accounts in three banks, and as it happened, a replacement bank was offering $300 to new customers who opened an account and deposited 10k.
