My husband chose to wait till he was 66 1/2 to start drawing SS so he could draw more money.  That time is this month.  He has not gotten a check.  We called the local office we went to to file.  There is NO documents that he filed Smiley Surprised  He can't come into the office to refile and has to do a phone call, wait for it...on JULY 26th!!!!!!!  Agent didn't know how long it would take after that for him to start receiving his money.  What in the world???

Did he fill out all the paper work, did he do it on line?  We had to go to the office to do my DH's there was some sort of a glitch online. We are glad we did since he retired during the start of Covid.

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

He should have received confirmation letters and info leading up to this month. Did he receive nothing since filing?

@monicakm   Oh noooo

Well, Husband and I are still working full time, but we filed at 66 and 2 months so we wouldn't be income penalized.  That way we could keep working our full time jobs and give ourselves a raise. We did it all online and it was so easy.  Check deposited in account when it was supposed to.  Never had an issue.  Maybe try online?

I went to the SS office to apply.  The woman who helped me explained everything and was professional.  I received my check in the time line she gave and have been receiving it for years.  No problems .  Hopefully the situation will straighten out for your DH and he will receive his check and not have any future problems.

Sorry this happened.

I did all mine (medicare & social security) online.  I remember when I chose when I would start, there being something about losing money if you chose a date, even within your birthday month that was too early, so I chose to begin mine on June 1.  However, I did not get paid in June.  I got paid for June in July.  It seems you have to live the month before you get paid for that month.

I got a letter from them dated JUN 9 stating:

"You will recieve $X for June 2023 around July 26 2023.

After that you will receive $X on or about the fourth Wednesday of each month."

So, i get my June pmt in July, my July pmt in August and so forth.

I guess since you haven't received any correspondence from them, that would not be the case for your DH.  Just thought I would mention it.

I didn't think about paying taxes on my SS, so I'm just now getting around to doing that.  I did need to go to the local SS office to deliver the form, but all I did was put it in an envelope and put it into a drop box.  I have received correspondence from them about that, so I know it went through.

@I am still oxox

We did it at the SS office and spent over an hour with the agent who filled out the paper work.  I called the same local SS location today and was told he never filed.

@bikerbabe

Honestly, I don't remember but if he did, I know where I would have filed them.  Thanks
