Poofing Gone Crazy

What is it with all the poofed threads lately? I commented (respectfully) on two this AM, went to the post office and by the time I returned both appear to be poofed.

This is not the first time that this has happened. What is the criteria that is used to poof a thread? Hardly worth commenting anymore.
