I watched an episode of Soft Underbelly where an adult trafficking victim was interviewed. She said she was handed to her "parents" as a baby, through a car window, and spent the majority of her childhood drugged and waking up in motel rooms and strange homes. At 40, she is drug sick. Says she can't stop using drugs. It's sad.
The world is full of sick and demented people.
@Lakelife62 @Joseph Fritzl. It was in Austria.
So odd that Elizabeth Fritzl's case was mentioned by both of you.
I posted about her on @Mindy D's initial thread about Rudy's disappearance being a hoax.
I'd said that you don't have to be away from home in order to be lost to the world.
Her's is a case that haunts me to this day.

I think it is possible the mother wants to be the center of attention to profit financially from her sensational story, or she may just want to get attention in a Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy kind of way. Beats me!
I have no idea what the truth is in this story. Was he missing or was he not? A neighbor says he was not, and the mother says he was. I wish the police luck in figuring this one out. I sure can't.
Regardless, I pray that the child, now a man, is able to recover emotionally and physically from whatever may have happened to him and that he can get whatever help or assistance he needs.

I don't understand who this Quanell X is and how or why he is involved. Where did he come from?

@SamBrown @He is a local man that has some national notoriety and experience speaking for others and being an activist. The mother called him to come to the hotel to be a sort of intermediary at the last moment. They did not know each other. He is well spoken and from his press conference he seems to be a caring and understanding person. There's a Wikipedia page about him. I found his press conference right after the meeting with police, Rudy and his mother to be the most enlightening of all the reports I've seen so far.

Watched Cuomo last night, if it is true what the mother is accused of, it is so sickening and I wish nothing but the best for this young man and hope he heals psychologically from all this.

@Carmie wrote:This is a very wierd case. I wonder if Rudy is a special needs person.
I have two sons. I can't imagine how I or anyone else could have gotten them to do things and cooperate fully when they were 17. They were bigger than me by then and not little children.
It was a chore to just get them to take out the trash.
This story makes little sense. If true, I hope the mother gets locked away for life. It sounds like she is a nut case and the whole family is following close behind.
@Carmie I would think the abuse started at a much earlier age than the date of his disappearance.

There are no charges yet.
Neighbors say the mother offered them money to keep quiet.
Does the left hand know what the right hand is doing?
What did the mother gain by doing this?
@PickyPicky3 Sadly, some people get pleasure from hurting or humiliating others.
