People are being lured to areas where they're jumped then robbed of cash, phones, jewelry and whatever else they can get for free.

So, PokemonGo IS effectively keeping people busy by getting them out and about, getting them moving, and getting them play a game. Are all fun and games idle devil's work, or only the ones you don't really understand?

I thought it was interesting and sort of funny that the company I work for, headquartered in another state, sent an email today notifying us that two of our locations are on the Pokemon Go game and we are supposed to report anyone lurking around the area to our Security dept.

This game scares the daylights out of me, not for me, but for the public in general.

People already walk around looking at their phones, but now they never look up!

So many dangers await with this craze. Not paying attention to your surroundings, getting lured to dangerous people (already happening), it is a "public interactive" game, so now we have kids talking to anyone who they meet who is playing, gosh, the dangers are endless.

Wonder how long this will last? I have no idea how it got so big in such a short amount of time. In this new world, I would not want to be focused on finding virtual creatures and not being aware Smiley Sad

LOL  People of all ages are playing it.  The news said it has lead to several dates since it's getting people outside and talking to each other at these various locations.

But to answer the question, No.

It's also leading to robberie and peopel getting held up as hackers can trace your whearabouts.

If this is how people need to get outside and talk to each other, we have more problems than we thought.

It has nothing to do with hackers tracing anyone, which would mean hackers are getting into your phone or data and learning about your particular whereabouts. PokemonGo is a treasure hunt and everyone with the app can see where the X marks the spot. All someone has to do is wait at any X located in an area with poor visibility and the next person looking for the X can be a target.

As you would without the app, just be aware of your surroundings and don't wander into a low visibility area on your own because anyone can mugged if you duck behind a building or into an alley where others cannot see what happens to you.

Has nothing to do with hackers tracing anyone?  Not sure where you're getting that info, but there are articles out there calling Pokemon Go a hacker's dream.  Pokemon hasn't been signing up new users through website, so the only way to sign up is through gmail.  No statements about privacy, so it appears the company can access one's Google Drive and gmail.  When you see Pokemon, you give them permission to access camera and photos.  Android users ultimately give permission to access contacts.  Plus, users provide date of birth when signing in, and their location is tracked by GPS.

@SharkE  our local news talked about this game and even had the CHIEF OF POLICE on advising people that they may be going to parts of the city they are not familiar with so they warned everybody to stay alert and be aware of your surroundings!!!!  At least it gets people UP AND WALKING AND OUT OF THE HOUSE

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The world is currently experiencing the effects of the immensely popular new app, Pokemon Go, and the Baltimore Ravens are no exception.

The Ravens tweeted out that a Rattata could be found at the training facility and then a giant Krabby appeared right on the 30-yard line at M & T Bank Stadium.

When I went to get the app, I read some of the reviews.  They aren't good at all.  People saying if you live in a rural area forget it, or it will only work at night, the game is always down, etc.

I went ahead and downloaded it.  My first mesage was that they are having problems right now, try later.  I'm not too impressed so far.  LOL

Update Pokémon Go now! Niantic releases update that fixes iPhone security gaffe that gave game access to EVERYTHING in player's Google accounts

  • Game requires 'full access' to the user's Google account
  • Niantic, the game's maker, has released an update fixing the issue
  • Allowed it to theoretically access everything from email to search history
  • Firm confirmed the app had only accessed user's basic profile information

It has taken America by storm - but may have led millions of iPhone users to inadvertently give away access to their Google account.

Experts have warned that iOS users of  Pokémon Go are putting themselves at risk by signing up using Google, as the game requests access to all of their information - from email to search history.

Niantic, the maker of the game, was today forced into an embarrassing apology over the security gaffe, and admitted it was a programming mistake as it released an updated version fixing the issue.
