It's just so tough. I go back and forth, because I have to stop and work on projects to keep going. I get contacted from recruiters abiout jobs which are termporary and they don/t mesh with what I am doing. No one wants to commit to more than four months at a time, which is ridiculous.
Anyway I was contacted by a recruiter for an international company and it is for a real job with benefits. I sent my resume in and have a phone interview with the hiring manager. Wish me luck! They haven't told me how many hoops I woud have to jump through for this job. But I have to get through this one.
Thanks, ladies!
@JavaQueen I read this thread earlier today and so many of the things you mentioned hit home to me. I know exactly how you feel.
I just attended a job fair this morning and I think I found a recruiter that is interested in helping me. I also noticed that there were far less people there than the first one I attended so I think the job market is definitely improving which is great news.
I have had several phone interviews and I find them to be much easier than a face to face as it prepares you for the next round of interviews.
What I usually do is literally read both my resume and the job description or whatever related material is available including the website of the company that you are interviewing with. I found this has helped me retain so much more of my work history when I revisit that information before the interview including the postitive things that I brought to a particular project (really helps jog your memory).
I also have all of the pertinent documents at the ready in case I get a brain freeze (but again I find reading through everything beforehand was a big help at least for me) and a full pad of paper and pen to take notes (especially the name of the person that you are interviewing with. I know it sounds silly but it has been a lifesaver to me a couple of times).
Best of luck my friend on what I know will be a successful interview tomorrow. Go get 'em as they are lucky to have you! ![]()

Super good tips! Like others said, have a pad and pens ready and your notes or documents. I blew a phone interview one time because I was walking around in the house instead of sitting at a table with my notes and no distractions. Good luck tomorrow!!! Keep us posted.

The best way to get over your nerves (aside from deep breathing, meditation) is to tell yourself "if it's meant to be, it will be; if not, another and better opportunity will come my way." Keep repeating this from time to time between now and the interview. Be at peace with it. :-)
For the interview, capitalize on your experience and maturity (in terms of communication skills, how to handle situations, etc.) and how those qualities will make you the best person for the job.
Sending good wishes your way!

Hello, all!
Wow! I just happened to come back and read. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and offer words of advice and encouragement. Though I don't really "know" you personally, it's almost like asking friends. Many of you have been in my shoes and have had to struggle or maybe you know someone.
Have been alternating between preparing for the interview and also work on my current project (those deadlines only move closer.)
I will definitely keep you posted. ![]()

Tomorrow is the day.Good luck!
I have very little interview experience.
When I had a phone one, I had a lack of words.(It was a prescreening one only) yikes!

UPDATE. (Please excuse caps.)
To all who kindly offered their support:
I went through the phone interview.
It sounded as if she "wanted me to come in." She is to confer with HR about setting things up.
Nothing is set in stone. BTW, there was a typo in my resume. (Word didn't save the change.) I apologized, but they talked to me anyway. It appears that the job will have a lot of CS and smoothing ruffled feathers. We shall see.
I will keep you posted.
