Part of my youth too! This is the 2nd one this week that I've read about that passed having to do with cig's. That's sad.

We all are going to die from something. People die suddenly who never smoke, drink or eat meat....it is just the name of this game called LIFE......

Yes, we all die, but that doesn't mean we have to throw away years of our life we could have spent with loved ones, enjoying travel or other things, when it's not necessary.

Smoking can and does cause lung cancer, heart disease, COPD, etc. Aside from death, those can include years of suffering.

I liked their music, too. It's too bad he couldn't kick the habit, which I know is not an easy thing to do.

Oh pooh! Plenty of people die from cancer who never smoked a day in their life. Don't demonize the smokers!{#emotions_dlg.mad}

I'm an ex-smoker, and I absolutely think smoking is the stupidest thing a person can do. There is too much information to continue on with doing something that can kill not only you, but others around you. Therefore, I will demonize all smokers! {#emotions_dlg.angry}

How I loved listening to the Everly Brothers, and watching them on TV, as a young teenager. Black and white memories, frozen in time. How sad to have yet another piece of our past torn from us. The Beatles' first album was a tribute to the Everly Brothers. An interesting bit of obscure trivia--when I was a kid, I read an interview in a magazine (maybe Seventeen?) with the Everly Brothers, where they said they took inspiration for their harmonies from Patience and Prudence--a sister duet. (Does anyone else remember them?) RIP Phil. You will not be forgotten.

Yes! The sister act of Patience and Prudence had a hit way back that I loved as a young teeny-bopper, "Tonight You Belong to Me".

I spent time today listening to some of Phil and Don's music on You Tube. Their voices were so harmonious and they surely did complement one another. Listening to their music brought back some beautiful memories along with a few tears.

I also listened to their 1983 Reunion Concert. Wow, wow, wow, what great voices. I read today their 1957 hit, Wake Up Little Susie" was banned from many radio stations because it was too racy. Imagine that ... I also read The Beatles called themselves the English version of the Everly Brothers. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Go to You Tube - Everly Brothers if you want a real treat. There are many songs to choose from. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

Facts are not demonizing.

Anyone who doesn't realize that there is a significant health risk to smoking has had their head in the sand.

Loved their Wake Up LIttle Suzy, I named my only daughter Suzy. They were really good. Still have a 45rpm record singing it. They aren't supposed to grow old!
