Re: Pet Peeve! What's yours?

I agree with everyone else's peeves but my biggest one is people who are chronically late or don't show at all.  I hate waiting for someone who is not considerate of my time and feelings.

My pet peeve is people who gripe and complain about every little thing.  Especially the retired ones who go to the post office at noon and gripe cause the line is long.  If they would go sometime else they wouldn't have to stand in line with the working people who HAVE to go at noon.

I feel the same way about women that are either reited or don't work.  They always manage to go and do their heavy grocery shopping during rush hour!  They have all day to do this why wait for rush hour and hold up all the lines when the working class only wants to stop in there and grab something for dinner.  That annoys me to no end.

My pet peeve is when I'm following someone on a very busy freeway, 70 mph zone, and he/she is texting.  So that person is going about 10 miles under the speed limit.  It's illegal in the state, but people don't care until they kill someone.

One of the little things I enjoy about being RETIRED is offering someone in line who seems to be in a hurry to go ahead of me!

My daughter just went on one of those bus trips to NYC from Pa. There was a mother of 2 little girls, the mother sat in the seat in front of the girls. The one cried and screamed the whole way because she wanted to sit with her Mom.

I like kids, but I would have lost my mind listening to that.

One of the things I enjoy the most about semi-retirement is my ability to choose when I will be on the roads, in the post office, in grocery stores. I pick times with the least traffic so I don't have to deal with crazy drivers who are speeding and changing lanes every two seconds or so I don't have to deal with pushy, inconsiderate people in the store aisles or checkout lines. It's just easier to avoid those who think it's all about me-me-me.

Parents who don't pick up after their child in a restaurant.  It looks like a food explosion on the floor when all they'd have to do is take a napkin and scoop it all up but it's the let someone else clean it up syndrome theory.

Okay, this peeve really surprises me. How do you know what time restraints a retired person is working under?  Maybe she's a caretaker for a loved one and that's the only time someone could cover for her.  Maybe she just finished a morning of volunteer work at a hospital, animal shelter or food pantry.  Perhaps she has health issues which make it difficult for her to get out and about earlier than that, or she's caring for grandchildren, or shopping for a neighbor who isn't able to shop.  How can you make the generalization that she has all day to shop when you don't?

Re: Pet Peeve! What's yours?

I'm in agreement with every pet peeve you've listed here.  May I add people who do not modify their speaking voice.  Examples:  yelling into their cell phones in public places, talking loudly in restaurants, or other places, so everyone eating there knows your business.

We had a male waiter recently that was practically shouting to the diners.

We knew what everyone ordered because he would repeat loudly "I HAVE ONE SHRIMP, ONE STEAK, etc. - you get the point.
