Perfection on Thanksgiving...NOT!

For anyone stressing out over the little details of your Thanksgiving get-together, remember that being with loved ones, either in person or over the phone or computer or in prayer, etc., is what's important!

I say this because an upstairs leak has caused the ceiling of one bathroom to fall in!!!!, lol!! I would say "When it rains, it pours!", but that would be a little too literal, lol! This will be one of our more memorable holidays, lol!

Anyway, just wanted to share a little chuckle. (After a gut-wrenching family crisis a few years ago, we've learned "not to sweat the small stuff.") And don't be too hard on yourself if things aren't perfect, perfect is overrated! Or so I'm told, lol!

Take care, everyone, and enjoy the day any way you want!

Re: Perfection on Thanksgiving...NOT!

I'll never forget the Thanksgiving my father was up in the attic, looking for something but I don't know what and his foot came crashing through the ceiling right over the stove!  Luckily my mother had already taken everything off the stove and hadn't open the oven door, so none of the food was ruined but it was sure funny seeing his foot dangling through the ceiling!  Thanksgiving will be perfect this year since I'm not cooking but I am bringing the wine!!!

Re: Perfection on Thanksgiving...NOT!

Thanks for the perspective, @PenneyT!  I was just reflecting on how lucky I am.

I love your simple message to "enjoy the day any way you want".   So true - it's easy to fall into patterns that aren't joyful, as this day is meant to be.

Good luck with the home reconstruction!  I hope you were able to shut the water off quickly.  I dread the thought of something like that.

Have a wonderful day.  As Lowell George wrote in a song, "Love is a perfect imperfection".  I think that applies to most things.

@Sweetbay magnolia, yeah, we turned off the water, then the longtime-friends-of-the-family plumbers 'isolated' the leak, sooo we have one less bathroom but no more leaks, lol!  I'm very grateful for that! It's always something!!!

I had mentioned to the family that this was going to be a very laid-back gathering, but I had no idea!!!!!!

@PenneyT, we had one Xmas with a houseful of people and the septic tank backed up so no working toilets until a family member got up to his elbows, so to speak, in ****. That was pretty memorable!

Hope the rest of your day goes much better!

@PenneyT I love your message and thank you.You are better off than someone with only only one bathroom...cause then you would have to say...things are so bad that we don't have a pot to pee in.LOL?Happy, happy Thanksgiving and hope your friend can help you fix the problem without too much trouble.

@dex, years ago we actually didn't have a pot to whiz in, but now things are so much better, and I thing part of it is just age and, dare I say it?, 'wisdom'!, to recognize what to freak over and what to roll with!

Roll on, all, and have a great day!!!

I wonder how one would describe "perfection on Thanksgiving".  I'm fairly sure I've never had that experience.  Full tummies and those in attendance getting along is good enough for me.  Maybe "perfection' is a relative term?
