Pennies are a pain...get rid of them.  None of the banks around here will count change. When I was cashiering I loved the people who would throw a huge pile of change on the counter and I would have to count out the cost. Verrry time consuming while waiting customers fumed. I was getting paid for my time, they weren't.  I think it's rude to do that. If you must do it come in late.

I like the change currency.

As a child I felt so rich with coins in my coin purse.  I say keep them.  If you don't like them, the use plastic.  Easy.

I was going through some of my old boxes of stuff in storage a while back and found a big jar of change. It was probably something of my son's. There are probably some Lincoln wheat pennies in there. I especially like those and Buffalo nickels. I like coins in general.

coins are a great way to begin to teach children about the value of money and saving. i am all for keeping our coins.....pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, and dollar coins.

to this day i still give my young adult children dollar coins on their birthdays and for christmas.

when they were 1 i gave them one dollar coin and a $2 bill.

when they were 2 i gave them two dollar coins and a $2.

for christmas i give them dollar coijns equal to what the ending numbers of the year is.....so for 2016 i gave them 16 dollar coins and a $2 bill.

I won't miss them at all. In fact I remove all and any coins from my wallet to a jar. I don't like handling coins.

I love finding pennies on the ground.I consider them lucky.Nobody throws out quarters or dimes so there would be nothing to find.I save all of the money I find in a jar and when there is enough I buy a lottery ticket.I plan to use any significant winnings...if ever...to help homeless.

Re: Pennies and Nickels

[ Edited ]

Personally, I don't mind the pennies  I try to use them up when I can so as not to weigh my purse down. Our grocery store has one of those change machines where you can dump in change and get a slip for however much it adds up to, to use in their store. People use it a lot. My dear mil, God rest her soul, saved pennies and after going through her items, I finally took the pennies to that change machine. I saved the ones with the wheat picture on the back and plan to look on line someday and see if there is any value in some of them. The bunch I took in to the store totaled about $37.

I believe we are moving more toward this all the time, and it is frightening.

If I expand on it, I'll be called paranoid and wearing a tin foil hat, but it is one more way to be controlled.
