Re: Payless Shoes Is Closing

[ Edited ]

There are many stand alone Payless stores.  There is one in the shopping center about 2 minutes from my house.

Honestly this doesn't surprise me.  Personally, I think the shoes there are way overpriced for the quality.  I can do better with name brand shoes on sale.  The last time I went into the Payless store near me, I couldn't believe the cost of the shoes.  I even texted my BFF and asked her when Payless started to charge that kind of money for shoes.

It's sad because there will be a large loss of jobs and a lot of empty buildings.

I'm not surprised....the quality and fit is just not there and as others have said, I'm able to find "better" shoes at about the same price.  We have one in our mall and I've never set foot inside nor do I ever see people in there.  I do feel bad for the employees

Re: Payless Shoes Is Closing

We have a PayLess inside of our Shopko store which announced its closing about a month ago....We also had a Pay less inside of our dying mall that closed over a year ago...

It really is too bad, even though I didn't shop there(I did when my girls were young), it means jobs lost..I was also at our Prime Outlet Mall a couple of weeks ago, and the gal in Gymboree announced that they are closing as well.....She was so sad and so worried about finding another job...

@CANDLEQUEEN , I thought Gymboree stores closed last year.  I didn't realize any were still open.  We had one in an outdoor mall and it closed after Christmas, 2017.

Re: Payless Shoes Is Closing

That's too bad. My daughter and I loved to look around in ours,a stand alone.  But lately we usually left without buying.  People mention "the quality" of the shoes, but really where is quality today?  Scetchers sure doesn't have it,been burned on those a few times.  New Balance...paid big $ and couldnt stand them. I have a Nike gift card, going to try them again.  Wish me luck!

Re: Payless Shoes Is Closing

I discovered this shoe store late in life, and just started shopping there 2 years ago.

Loved their shoes.

Sad day for me and a great loss.

I think if they had partnered with AMZN, things might've worked for them.

Payless smelled like a tire store.  Haven't been in there for years.  Parade of Shoes was better, but they are long gone.

I have gone in multiple times to try their shoes...they are just awful! Felt like carboard and hurt like heck. There is economical and then there is down right carp...and they qualified as carp to me.

Re: Payless Shoes Is Closing

I am so sorry to hear this. I have bought shoes there over the years when I just need something for a certain outfit, and of course many pairs for the kids when they were little. I just hate having our shopping choices taken away from us.
