Re: Payless Shoes Is Closing

[ Edited ]

I saw this last night.   Hate to see it.   I can buy most any brand of shoes that I want but for the last several years I've bought lots of payless shoes.  Why?  Because they are comfortable, cute, inexpensive and they last forever.   Almost all of my summer colorful canvas slip-ons are from there.   I get compliments on them all of the time.

My go to winter boots are from there.   And my summer athletic slip ons from there too.  I went in to a store last week hoping to get another pair of black winter booties.  The ones I bought there about 5 years ago and wear everyday are starting to show signs of needing to be replaced.  They didn't have anything close in my size.  I guess I'll try to make these last longer.

Looks like they've already shut down online ordering.   I went online to look for those boots and you can't order online anymore.

We’ve had a stand-alone store in our town ever since I can remember. I remember as a child, mom always got our Sunday shoes and special occasion shoes there.

I’ve never shopped there. The name alone was unappealing. Sounds as if a lot of people felt that way since they’re closing.

Oh, I don't know about that.  "Pay Less" sounds pretty good to me.  I think their biggest problem is that they cast their fate, for the most part, with malls.

I never shopped there, but it's sad to hear of a long time business closing.

Wasn't there just some flap over a "fake" $500 pair of shoes in an ad?

Guess it didn't serve to bring people into the stores.

They've closed several around my area already.

Kind of saw it coming.

I've bought some cute summer sandals there that were nice.

One more store that was once common, gone along with so many others.

When I was in my mid twenties I was offered a job as a manager of a Payless store.  They wanted me to agree to move somewhere without telling me where it would be before I accepted the job.  I just couldn't do that and didn't take the job.  I would have been willing to move, but needed to know where it would be first and be agreeable to it.

Good.  The  most uncomfortable shoes ever.
