Thank you for posting that link. The practice is more widespread than most people realize.

Re: Patient Dumping??? (Disturbing but worth talking about)

I cried watching this on the news.  This is an example how low and callous our society has become when dealing with the most vulnerable. This and worse happens every day.  Working with the poor has shown me how cruel people are to the poor, elderly, and sick.   Politics plays a key role.  As long as leadership actions and words show it's ok to demonize the elderly, poor, refugee, disabled, mentally ill,, etc, these things will continue.

Re: Patient Dumping??? (Disturbing but worth talking about)

@CalminHeart and @KingstonsMom-

I cried when I saw this too and was so upset by it. I wanted to post a thread about it kind of to say what can we do to stop something that should have never happened and should never happen again! And also heard that it does happen across the country! We can't be "the greatest country in the world" as long as our country treats the poor, the mentally ill, the addicted, the homeless, and our veterans! with so much disregard and especially because good treatment might not be financially advantageous!

But I didn't because I know we hear so many sad things and most all the time I've seen these things already and don't want to see them again.

But I looked up the CEO, their phone number, all the stuff I could do. I read it is all being investigated by the organization that regulates and approves facilities for mental health. Well good.

The CEO's response was not adequate I think. All the people responsible should have been fired!

In addition to how her mother was treated and ridiculed. I hope she sues.

That is not proper hospital procedure and there is no reason or excuse in the world for treating anyone (animals included)with cruelty and abuse. None.

This is the part of America that is not "beautiful." And our country is not the greatest country in the world for many people as we can see every day.

People who say it is, maybe have never been thrown out on the street or tried to get help for their over 18 child or relative.

I will be watching this and what happens. I hope all our calls and responses do something to help but I know that is not guaranteed.

Look at the trials and outcome of the officers involved with Freddie Gray.

The video that was shown of her on the street was one of the most heartbreaking and disturbing, shocking things I think we've seen lately, though we hear about many terribly sad things every day.

And then sadly it gets exhausting trying to think about so many things, what can we do, what can I do, and we may not be able to do a thing.Another thing in our world to pray about for anyone that does, and maybe thats one of the greatest things we can do.

  I saw that and it made me feel sick.  I once read ,and have never forgotten a sentence, that goes something like this,  we are defined as a nation, by how we treat the very young ,and the very old.

I would give these people an F.

@cherry

Agreed! And Gandhi said,

The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated. - Mahatma Gandhi

I personally believe both to be true.

I so agree ,  btw I dont feel enough is ever done for animals.  laws in this country need to be much stricter with jail time and very hefty fines for animal abuse and for big game trophy hunting as well .  The way elderly are treated is despicable,  all of it sickens me 😡
