@MaggieMack wrote:To all who lived in Northern California in the late 1970s, do you remember the drought and water rationing then? I worked in an office in Danville, where I also lived, and remember not flushing the toilet during the day if it was only No. 1, and showers were few and far between. Is it that bad now?

I do remember, Maggie
it's so much worse now, we are in the fourth year of drought.
This is the worst drought in CA in 1200 years.

Yes, I remember that awful drought, which was followed by the malathion aerial spraying. It took the paint off cars, and we were told it wouldn't hurt us. I still remember the smell coming in the windows at night. Most of all I can still close my eyes and hear the helicopters flying low, spraying. The sound rattles the houses.
The water rationing had a saying, "If it's brown, flush it down. If it's yellow, be mellow.". LOL! We also put a brick in the tank of toilet.

And we bought water saving shower heads.
We didn't have the spraying, thank goodness. You guys were told to bring all the backyard kid toys inside.

@shoekitty and others in northern CA:
It's finally rained here. No big storm in my area but at least it's wet. The weather reporters last night said certain areas would get A LOT of rain through this weekend and that SF would get two to four inches of rain in total ![]()
I find that hard to believe.

No rain at all yet. Yesterday the clouds looked firce over the mountains (ocean) it got a little winday. This was 5 pm. Then my 10 the sky was clear, I could see stars. It was sunny this morning, but a few clouds are coming in. Hoping something will happen, or we will need to water plants and lawn. It has been 9 days since we watered.

I wish I could be in a position to enjoy the rain, when I starts in earnest. Maybe Sunday ;-)

BIG NEWS
We got home just in time to catch the weather report. Maybe the comment that SF would get 3 to 4 inches of rain was right on.
They are saying it's a level 3 storm, out of a ranking of 1 to 5. It's expected to hit hard Saturday.
@Moonchilde it may not be an easy day of driving for you all.

@Noel7 If we can leave by 11 am, I'll feel better. But it is what it is ;-(

Still no rain in my area. My day was filled with appointments, so I hoped it would rain. Now they're saying it will rain Friday-Monday, with the heaviest rainfall being over the weekend.

If you are coming by my town, and it's raining...stop in for some coffee and tea...Oh, and I have a new stash of McConnell's ice cream!
It rained a bit a while ago. I haven't removed the cushions from the patio. We have a covered patio. If it rains hard it blows in. But I don't want to jinx myself, like september said, LOL!
