When I saw the title of this post the first thing that came to mind was having to hit every bathroom when I'm out and about. If I'm going to be somewhere without a handy bathroom I really limit how much I drink. When we take our walks my husband can down an entire large bottle of water and not have to use a bathroom. I get a few ounces into me and I'm heading to the restroom.
I noticed a few of you have mentioned getting charley horses. Ever since I was young I've had periods where my leg cramps could get pretty frequent. I tried everything from drinking more water to eating a lot of bananas.
About six months ago I saw a TV ad for Theraworx Relief for muscle cramps. I thought I would try it since I really had nothing to lose. I bought the foam and I put it on my legs and feet once daily right before I go to bed. I was absolutely shocked at how well it works for me. In six months I've only had one very minor charley horse.
Until I purchased this product I would often have charley horses every few days. They seemed to run in cycles. I might go a couple of weeks without any leg cramps and then suddenly I would have them almost nightly.
This product worked wonders for me. I was not able to find it locally but I did find it on Amazon. I highly recommend it.

years ago I started setting a 16oz bottle of water at my bedside at night. In the morning I'd drink the whole thing to start my day, before I even got dressed. I never feel I'm falling behind on hydration with that start.
Coffee is a bladder irritant, so I limit it to morning hours only.
Most afternoons I have a big 20oz mug of green tea with sliced, candied ginger. Seems to calm my urinary tract.
8oz of cranberry juice daily balances the ph and likewise calms tissues.
My last real beverage is usually 20oz, at around 5pm.
That gives my body hours to process it and get it out before bedtime. Might have a little ice cream or Jello after that but nothing that equals more than a 5 or 6 ounces at best.
Don't overlook the fact that there is a surprising amount of moisture in food, and overdoing water intake can lead to a condition called "water intoxication", where your electrolytes become dangerously imbalanced.

I only drink when I feel like it. I sip on hot tea most of the morning and then move on to a flavored beverage for the rest of the day. The only time I guzzle water is when I'm out working in the yard. I usually do get thirsty late in the evening probably because of salt in whatever I eat for "dinner", so I make it a point to go before I go to bed. My urine is almost always clear or very light in color.
For the Charley Horses, I hear pickle juice is great for that.
I think tea at night could also be a problem if it is caffeinated. It's less of a problem than cofee, but still is a diuretic, so switching to a decaffeinated tea should solve that problem.
If all else fails, there's always the Depend option.

My nursing instructor said pale, nearly colorless in a well hydrated person.

I love drinking water! I can't get enough of it. I drink a lot during the day and with meals but after dinner I just drink small amounts. I still get up during the night but if it's because of the water, I'll live with that.

I too drink a lot of water, and as I said in a thread in the Wellness Forum, involving a particular bladder test? That in this multi-catheter testing, including a Cystoscopy, the conclusion was I have a small bladder.
I do not have this problem mostly because of my workout intensity. Be it my ice skating for 2 hours 3 times a week, or my 2 days of at home workouts. During these workouts my sweating gets rid of a lot of the ingested fluid.
On days I do not have a hard workout, my body requires less fluid replacement, thus no bladder problems for me. I think the fact I require 4-5 hours of sleep, might be another part if why i don't have this issue.

my husband who sees a urologist told him to cut water out after 6pm,
he takes sips of water after 6pm that is all he drinks
I think this poster nailed it. I have trouble with adema and have to take water pill once a day. I do drink a lot of water and green tea with nothing in it. Sometimes my wee wee is almost like water. I try to strive for a straw color. When I've had to cut down fluid intake because I had to have some kind of crumby surgery lol! my wee wee got darker yellow but that's because I was not allowed to have anything for quite a while. Soon as that past I was back to drinking my head off. LOL. Yes, too much is not good either. ![]()

I stop drinking around 6-7pm and rarely have to get up at night.

I hear that you should stop drinking fluids after about 6:00 p.m. if getting up in the night is an issue. I can't do this though as I am thirsty and dry all the time! So, hence, I have to get up in the night. I take different meds which make my mouth dry. I can't stand to be thirsty, so I drink! I know that my bladder is not what it used to be either so that plays a part in it. To anyone who has issues with getting up in the night to go, I would say --- it would be a good idea to go to the doctor and make sure nothing else is going on that causes this, besides just drinking too many fluids!
