Does anyone have experience - good or bad - with a Gibson brand central air conditioner in your home?  TIA

Re: Gibson brand central air

@lynne6was7  I have never heard of Gibson, so I looked at reviews online.  Most are not good, but one contractor said that he had no problem with them and that the fault usually is because of the installer.

We went through Costco for ours and we have been told by our yearly maintenance people that it is the best.  If it wasn't 100 degrees here in Delaware, I would go outside and see what brand it is, but I think it might be a Lennox.  We got a great deal through Costco and it would be worth joining just for this type of purchase.  I believe that in addition to getting a great price, we also had an extended warranty and approximately $1500 as a store credit.

I live where excellent air conditioning is a must. Trane is the only brand I would even consider.

Have not heard of Gibson.  We have always had Trane.

@SXMGirl   Does Costco also install it, or did you arrange that separately?  It seems most HVAC people around here supply and install - i.e., I don't think they'd install a unit purchased elsewhere.

In my opinion Trane is the best you can buy.

@ValuSkr  Costco took care of everything.

I live in Florida and I have an old American Standard and that is the brand that I want again. This unit has been a workhorse. It is 19 years old so I know I have to replace it sometime soon. I am hoping to get through this summer.

  • We replaced our old undersized original A/C …I think it was Whirlpool. We chose a Trane as a replacement. Love it. It was a little I more expensive than other units but our electric bill is actually less, even during the summer. It has two stages so it is perfect for our two story home. I would not ever consider another brand. We live in Texas, so a reliable and capable A/C is a must. I have never heard of Gibson brand for A/C so it may not be sold in our area.
