PROBLEM WITH DRINKING A LOT OF WATER

Hello everyone, we all know it is good to drink a lot of water, and I for one drink a lot of it during the day.  However, what happens during the night when we want to sleep?  You guessed it, all that water we drank during the day decides to leave our body when we are trying to sleep!!  I am in and out of bed all night long and I am getting tired of being tired because I am doing what is supposed to be good for me!!

Anyone have a suggestion on how to prevent a good part of that?  For instance, is there a time when we should cut off water drinking?  I want to do what is good for me but how can I do that when it causes what isn't good for me...like not getting a good nights's sleep?  Any suggestions? Woman Frustrated

Re: PROBLEM WITH DRINKING A LOT OF WATER

I too drink much water during the day and up most of night going to the bathroom. am seeing a urologist myself now, just began seeing this doctor so have not gotten to the part of when to quit drinking water, am exhausted from up all day and up most of the night, on top of that I am on water pills too by order of family doctor.

my husband who sees a urologist told him to cut water out after 6pm,

he takes sips of water after 6pm that is all he drinks

Re: PROBLEM WITH DRINKING A LOT OF WATER

I think it's better to sip water during the day.

In other words, don't guzzle tons of water all at one time.  JMO, of course.  Our bodies are all different.

Lots of 'old timers' with long lives I've known used to sip water throughout the day.

Re: PROBLEM WITH DRINKING A LOT OF WATER

It seems like if it is forcing you to get up in the night, you're simply drinking too much.  My doctor told me years ago to let my urine color be the guideline. If it is light and pale you are getting plenty,  if you are drinking more than that is it will simply pass through your system.

Don't forget how many hundreds of thousands of years went by before humans had water coming out of the tap.

Re: PROBLEM WITH DRINKING A LOT OF WATER

Firstly, check with your doctor to see how much water to drink.  You could be losing your electrolytes.  They will have to do a urine test to see.

Secondly,   remember there is water in your food.

@ROMARY ...I'll pour a glass of water with ice cubes, which takes up some space, set it on the desk while on my computer and drink it slowly.  It's not like I pour a glass, gulp it down and start another one.  So we can count  that one out!!   On to the next one...Woman Happy

Depending on when you go to bed, stop drinking liquids 3 hours before. If that doesn't do it, move to four hours before, etc.

@Bhvbum ...Aha, the color of urine.  I always make it a point to check it because I know it should be yellow, real yellow, and many time mine is pale.  I defintely will keep that in  mind and that will help me determine if I have had enough or even too much.  Thanks for the reminder.Woman Happy

Happened to my sister-in-law.  Urologist and Cardiologist said electrolyte imbalance caused her heart to beat irregularly - Atrial Fibrillation.  Too much water.
