As if they hadn't already looked fabulous at the coronation (some observer commented that they appeared both regal and stoic, through the ceremony-- I think those adjectives are spot on.)

Anyway, there's just been a garden party for King Charles at Buckingham Palace, and these two really sparkled-- William in his morning suit and top hat, and Catherine in her sort of steel blue Elie Saab dress:

Men in formal wear, and with easy, considerate manners, are a treat.

Just outstanding.

Also love the Philip Treacy hat, her hair clubbed neatly underneath it, and the jeweled circle earrings.   That lace in her bodice and edging her sleeves is such a feminine touch.

And it's nice to see Princess Anne out of uniform, and in a flattering, creamy outfit complemented with beautiful pearl necklace and earrings--

Okay, I've never watched Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, but I immediately thought of that when I saw Kate's dress.

Okay, and her hair styled that way, too.

I usually think Kate looks great.  She could be wearing something from Old Navy and I'd give her a thumbs up.  But this is a miss.

I never got to see her dress she wore to the coronation as she wore that blue silky robe on top of it.  The robe reminded me of something from Halloween Adventure.  

Again, I think Kate is very pretty and her outfits are usually very nice.

I'm responding to your thread @Oznell  because I've sworn off the coronation threads for now.

Ha, ha, always glad to have you here, @Lucky Charm -- 

I'm by no means a fan of all of Kate's looks, although of course I think she is so pretty, with a lovely, warm but dignified bearing.

I've always thought that she has a traditional, slightly retro "aura"-- so for me, when she's too va-voom contemporary, she's not entirely in sync with the vibes that I think she gives off.

So, of course, I'm more susceptible to sort of throwback, lady-like looks for her.  To me, she's best when she's erring in the direction of "fuddy duddy chic".   

That's how weird I am.

William and Kate look great.  I love lace in a dress and think the blue is a flattering color for Kate.  As another poster mentioned, also like that William's tie coordinates with Kate's dress.  The hat is pretty too - different, which I like.  Not a hat wearer myself, but always love seeing the hats on everyone.

Whether Kate and William are casually dressed or wearing formal they are gracious, dignified, and and truly a royal couple.  Even though Kate's dress is not one of my favorites, she still looks classy!

Seeing Princess Anne is always a bright spot.  While low key and going about her business quietly, she is very charitable and an asset to the royal family.

Very pretty. I do prefer her in more modern fitted dresses. But my bias is against overly frilly as it’s not a look I like in general on anyone.
