@Tinkrbl44 not often, anymore, although I used to really enjoy it. Shopping online is just so convenient and also, I just don't have the stamina I once had. I tire much more quickly when I'm out and about. 😕

One great thing about indoor malls is they have benches and sitting areas.  I've found sitting on a bench and doing some people watching works if I need to get a "second wind".

@Tinkrbl44 that's true but what we have around here are collections of stand-alone stores where you have to walk outside to go from one to the other. Unfortunately, they seem to have phased out "malls" as we know them.

Re: POLL: MALLS AND THE B AND M STORES

Now a days I mostly shop online. Maybe go to our local Mall once every couple of months. There are so many empty store fronts it makes me sad. Even at the nearby Outlet stores many empty store fronts. I was a “Mall Rat” with my friends in the middle 70’s. Everything was there. Movies, food, arcades, shops all under one roof.

I shop online and Marshals. I have a 100.00 gift certificate for Marshals but I have to wait until I feel better. Had surgery and have to take it easy. Needed a new battery for my pacemaker.

Re: POLL: MALLS AND THE B AND M STORES

I used to go to the mall almost every weekend. Now I hardly ever go. Even though there is a mall 10 minutes from me it's just easier to order online. The stores rarely have my size, limited selection etc. Dillards has their handbags chained down so you have to hunt for the person who has the correct key to open it. I usually just run into Ulta if I need cosmetics. I can order makeup online in the winter months but it's to hot in summer to have that stuff riding around in 110 degree heat so I try not to need anything from April to October. The mall by me has to many stores geared for kids and teens. Macys, Dillards and Penney's, Coach and jewelry stores are about it for adults.

For clothes and shoes I prefer to shop in stores and try things on.  I haven't had much success with ordering online and getting a good fit.

My usual stores are Macy's,  Marshall's, Kohl's, Burlington, Costco and even Walmart.  If I find an item I like I will order multiples online.

Re: POLL: MALLS AND THE B AND M STORES

I mostly shop online, but like many others am frustrated that items may not fit or be what I thought they were.  The material looked different or they fit like "seconds".

I stopped going to the mall years ago for sentimental reasons.  I used to go with my children.  We had such fun! As my daughter left for college, I found myself wandering around and reminiscing.  It was ok at first, but as the years passed, it became depressing instead of enjoyable.  No matter what, I couldn't shake the feelings.

As another poster said, the clothing looked different and was geared more for the younger generation.  So I pretty much stopped altogether.

I still prefer and enjoy shopping in person, but lots of stores in my city have closed, and the stores that are still open have fewer selections of styles, colors, and sizes so sometimes I'm forced to buy online. I prefer to see in person, feel, and try on clothes and shoes. I make fewer mistakes that way.

I used to shop once a week at local stores for clothing, shoes, handbags. I accumulated tons of stuff. Now, I shop in person about once a month. I order online when I can't find what I want in my local stores. I would estimate 75% of my clothing is bought in person in a local store.

Re: POLL: MALLS AND THE B AND M STORES

I occasionally enjoyed going to the big high-end mall in my previous town.  It was entertaining for people-watching and we usually got lunch at the Cheesecake Factory.  I would poke around in Sephora.

Where we are now, the enclosed mall one town over is kind of run-down and there are signs that it's patrolled by canine units.  I have not actually seen the dogs though.  There is a CCF there, too, but we don't go often.

However, there is a cute outdoor mall close by that has Chico's, Talbots and JJill within steps of each other.  😜

Re: POLL: MALLS AND THE B AND M STORES

we have shopping centers with stand alone stores, malls, outlet centers, and town centers all still around in our area.

i honestly prefer to shop online most of the year, but i did do a lot of in store shopping during the holidays.

if we are including grocery stores, pharmacies, and big box stores, i would say i am at about 70/30.....70% online, 30% in stores.
