Whole map, including The Western States:

If I could choose I'd be English, from a town that ended in "Shire". My fairy land.
In our travels, the Boston accent is most noticeable to me, just some of their words.
I'd be midwestern. Only WE don't have an accent. Lololololol.
Southern ladies, have a cute little accent in their words.
So glad there's so many variations, makes the world go round.

Funny.

Have not taken a quiz, but all I know is that I have the Philadelphia accent with their diphongs and triphongs. Only not as pronounced.
DH is from Rochester and he still has a Rochester accent.

This map might not accurate. People have asked me about my accent, thinking I'm from New York. I've never been there. Someone else once said I sound like I have a Boston accent. I was born in Arizona, raised in Michigan, married in Houston and lived there for 10 years. Now live in the midwest.I don't know what kind of accent I would have.

These stories of your accents-- they are so interesting!
Thanks for posting the whole map, @Desertdi -- I didn't realize mine would come out "partial", ha.
@StylishLady2 , I should have specified mine as southern Ontario too. Since Canadian accents can vary quite a bit also. Although, both my parents were from Ontario, and to me, they sounded similar to Walter Pidgeon, who didn't lose his Canadian accent went he went to Hollywood, but I think was from New Brunswick...
Whenever we lived or traveled in the States, my Dad would unconciously start to have a slight more drawl to his speech, ha.
I've been looking for a better quiz to suggest. Babbel was the least accurate for me. I can't find the really good one I took.
The problem is, most of the online quizzes measure "dialect" plus accent. Dialect is not necessarily about pronounciation-- it includes the words you prefer-- like "pop" as opposed to "soda", etc.
This one I took is a little too short, but it does concentrate only on the sounds you produce, so should be more accurate about accent:

I took two quizzes, Babbel and the one from Today, and both accurately pinned me as being from the northeast.

I am from The Upper Midwest! I never notice an accent, but others do, and they always think Minnesota.....Close, but not quite!
