never had a problem.
I'm not sure bowl liners completely resolve the issue, as the yucky stuff can hide in the water lines, etc. on the fancy chairs.
The place I go to uses regular stainless steel bowls that are sanitized between clients, all tools are either given to the client at the end except those that are autoclaved after each use.

You can get staph infections too.
I once watched a gal at one of those Asian salons where we went just to get our nails painted. She just cleaned the jet tub with a little ""Fantastik"" and paper towel. That was it. No bleach. No running bleach through the cycle. *shiver* I was horrified.

I get one every month. I have never had a problem.
I'm going today, in fact.

hi jane

I had a cocoa/honey pedi on Thursday.
I've been getting pedis about every three weeks for about 20 years. Never a problem.

I love getting pedis, and I still do go. I just know that I could get a fungus. It does concern me. I don't go as often as I used to due to getting a mild one--thank goodness it cleared up- a few years ago.
I wish I was able to do them at home, but I don't do a good job and am a bit lazy when it comes to getting pedis.
I do know that there is a risk though. Unless all moving parts are cleaned out and bleached out after each client, they are not fully clean. I got a mild one at a very high-end salon. I'm just blessed it went away with an anti fungal cream.

I know Scottie. I feel like bringing my own bleach, LOL.

I got a mild fungus. I went to a fabulous salon. Buyer beware.
Same thing happened to me, win. I have been doing my own pedicures. I don't trust that the basins or the tools are sanitized as they should be.
I was going to get one today Magic, and now I'm thinking of passing, LOL. I need to start doing my own pedicures.

I'm kind of scared to get a salon pedi, win. I think I read that bleach needs to sit a while in order to be effective? I'm not sure that is happening when back to back pedi's are scheduled?
Realistically, the chances of us getting another infection are probably slim, so I might just put on my brave face and schedule a pedi if it ever gets warm enough for sandals!

Good morning Magic. I freaked out a bit when the lady told me she thought I had a slight fungus. I went to the dermatologist, and she said it was very mild. I usually go every 3 to 4 weeks, but now I have pushed it back a bit as I'm so squeamish. I am terrible at doing my own pedis. I still may go today, but I will probably be freaking out, LOL, a bit. I think you're right--it's not super common and we probably hear the horror stories.
It does concern me though that they don't clean these jets. It's so gloomy here in Indianapolis right now. The whole week has been bad. I'm taking a day off today to get some things done, but I don't think I'll be enjoying the weather.
have a great weekend!!!
