I have given my own and never gone to a spa but if I did go I would take my own personal tools and towel.......I would not use what the salon uses.......then it should be safe. Still I would never go.

They are quite common.
I hear of them from salons far more than health clubs/gyms.
Soaking in brown Listerine will kill any germs and won't ruin your pedi either.

I have stopped going, but I miss them. I got a nail fungus that lasted a long time, the toe nail is still not the same, but I kept going when it cleared up. Now a few months ago, I discovered i have flat warts on my feet! I have a low immune system due to the meds I take. I am thinking of asking if they can do it with a separate pail of water and not using the chair. I know it is from the nail salons, because I never had any problems before I started going to them.

I bring my own bowl and implements to my salon.
Years ago I sat in one of those chairs with a jetted tub and came away with a gift on my big toe. It took forever (years) to get rid of. It would appear to be gone, then reappear. Unfortunately it takes ages for your big toe nail to grow out.

EEEUUUUWWWWWW! I have read that the best thing in the world for killing toenail fungus is good old fashioned Vick's salve. Thank God I have never had to put it to the test.
