Re: Overkill coverage of plane

Marian, I did not know that what happened to him? I noticed he lost weight he just looks so different. He is also a pilot. Thank you for telling me about him.

He was in Japan, doing a story on the third anniversary of the tsunami. He was carrying a heavy case with camera equipment, and somehow it fell on his arm. He was taken to hospital, and the arm was so badly damaged they had to amputate. This only happened about a month ago. He's a very resilient man!

Re: Overkill coverage of plane

Personally I don't find the coverage of the missing plane "overkill". To me, overkill is the ridiculous attention given to Bieber or K&K or Miley, etc. This has never happened before...well, I guess at least not since Amelia Earhart. Planes just don't go totally missing without explanation. I do find some of the so-called experts a bit much to take, since most of them have no idea what happened and it has been pure speculation. I have found the coverage interesting when they are talking to well informed people that can explain the possibilities. Until they either find the plane or the wreckage it is going to be a topic of discussion. If I had a loved one on that plane, I certainly would want as much information as possibly available.

Re: Overkill coverage of plane

Well, when you have channels that have a 24/7 news cycle, they have to be talking about SOMETHING ...... the mystery has a lot of people fixated on this story.

What's YOUR theory ?

We humans are problem solvers and we like challenges. This missing plane is a mystery and we seek to solve it.

They will continue this story until it is resolved or until something else happens they deem newsworthy. I think coverage of an actual event beats constant harping on the Kardashians etc..............................

Re: Overkill coverage of plane

I just saw a poll taken on CNN on this matter. Like the guy said there are so many other choices if you are not interested. Why complain? 13% said there is not enough coverage.

Yes, it has happened since Amelia Earhart's disappearance. In 1950, a Northwest Airlines plane carrying 58 people crashed into Lake Michigan. An organization has been searching for the wreckage ever since. They've found some shipwrecks but so far, no plane wreck.

I care about those people and their families. I'd like to do something about it, but I can't. For me, tuning into the coverage is a bit of a cathartic release. - Bird

Re: Overkill coverage of plane

Have they found anything that resembles airplane parts? I don't know.........I'm thinking the plane could be somewhere else, possibly on land. It is possible, as far-fetched as it seems.
