I understand, cater. I feel the same way. All I can do is give thanks for those who are working so hard to find the aircraft.

I want them to find that plane and I want answers of what happened. Since you don't care just step away from CNN and every other news channel. I still say you would never utter those words if god for bid you had someone you cared about on the plane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a logical point of view I think my position is sound. Nobody can say how i would feel if i had a relative on that plane, but I certainly wouldn't want to risk the lives of searchers who are going out in stormy weather for something so futile. Cater, you are speaking with your heart and not your brain. There are a lot of things you might want under the circumstances but the possibility of you getting your "wants" is becoming increasingly unlikely. I didn't say anything about TV coverage; I'm referring to the search itself. It's going to end soon because the funds budgeted for it are going to be exhausted.
It's very sad for the families involved but unending searches without the possibility of finding something substantial is just prolonging the agony. Even the experts are saying that there is a good chance neither the plane or its wreckage will never be found.
I think the aviation industry needs to look at its policies, procedures and equipment to prevent this from ever happening again. There should something like transponders operating at all times without the pilot's ability to turn it off. There should be a better method for locating black boxes. Apparently these things are now being done "on the cheap" and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

I don't think it's overkill. People are missing, probably dead. I think it's so sad and heartbreaking. It's a nightmare for those people's loved ones.

Today, I caught the very end of a radio talk show regarding possibly having some type of satellite video running the entire time in the cockpit. And it would only be viewed only in the event of a missing plane, emergency, unfortunate crash, etc. The videos wouldn't be in a box in the plane, but continuously and electronically transmitted and stored away somewhere else on land.

There are many places they could be...why not try and follow a lead?
You seem to be among the few on here who actually get it. If you don't think outside the box, if someone doesn't consider even the remotest possibilities, if even one stone is left unturned, you may never get an answer.
Enough about the victims families being bombarded with this. They, too, can choose who and when to watch, and where to get their information from. So can the people complaining about the coverage.

Well, for those who don't believe it is news or feel overkill on the coverage, we (USA) are officially involved. I saw on the news coverage that the Pentagon has spent $2.5 million to sent some equipment/men to the area. Who knows what the FBI/NTSB/cia has invested.
Yeah, we need to know how much it's costing us because in the end, we will foot the bill.

Did you know that he lost one arm at the elbow a few weeks ago?
