I respectively disagree. Too much of this will make people overwhelmed (the viewing public, anyway...and the reason why there is this over coverage) to the point where they give up in disgust. People can only take so much of the "cry wolf" coverage before they start blocking it out and turning to something else. So in the end, the media is losing audience and will then turn to other stories, and it WILL get swept under the rug.

Vicious circle. Better to pull back and be moderate and reasonable in their coverage.

Some of the viewers are watching to solve a mystery and treating this like a thrilling detective novel. Some are the same audience as the Casey Anthony and Jodi Arias junkies. All in the name of "justice" for the victims.

YES! They should give up. At this point the search is an exercise in futility. Considering the conditions, the weather, the location etc., I seriously doubt they'll ever find that plane. It's in the most difficult location in all the world's oceans to access at a time of the year (onset of winter) when horrific storms are prevalent. Because the possible location is so far from land, they can only spend a few hours a day in actual search activities. It's pretty much hopeless and I think the waiting families should be told so and sent home. It's cruel to keep them dangling with false hope.

kachina I bet if you had family on that plane you would never post on here to give up looking for the plane and your family that was on it. I want them to find that plane and I want answers of what happened. Since you don't care just step away from CNN and every other news channel. I still say you would never utter those words if god for bid you had someone you cared about on the plane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There will NEVER be too much coverage of this horrible event. If your so tired of the coverage MUTE your TV. These people who are bored with this would be yelling a different tune if they had a loved one on that plane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People can sure see clearly were some peoples hearts and compassion are on here.

I agree, cater. I'm not sure why people are so worked up about excessive coverage when they're not required or obligated to watch or listen to.

My heart goes out to those who must sit and wait. I can't imagine the helpless desperation.

Jane there is no way on this earth that I would have the guts to say quit looking for the plane or I was tired of the coverage. There are human beings screaming in pain and distress over their loved ones. I don't care who knows it I care about everyone that is missing and I want answers for the family's.
