Reporting actual NEWS about it is one thing, but having speculation after speculation thrown around for hour after hour can't be helpful to anyone.

I know that it's not an "amusing" topic, but I can't help but be amused at how all of this coverage has turned everyone into an aviation expert.
I'll bet that most people never even heard of a transponder before this happened.

Don't get me wrong it should be in the news, but there should also be many other stories in the news that are not being covered since this plane is missing. To add, I think its about time people face that this plane crashed in the ocean. There is no hijacking because there have been no demands. There is no terrorism or the terrorists would have said so and used the plane by now. Its time for authorities to be honest so these poor families can try to accept the fact that their loved ones are gone.
I agree with you Shorty, I have thought it crashed since the beginning. CNN is the only station covering it nonstop & people don't have to watch that station. I'm following two other huge chat rooms & haven't read anything about aliens & such things as I have read here. I think it's inappropriate for authorities to give hope to the families when they don't know what happened. I feel sorry for those people not knowing what happened to their family members.

I learn a lot not only from watching a news report, but by discussing it here in VP, and it's possible that others do as well.
I hope I'm not one who acts like an expert, because that's not my intention.

Speculating by those involved and is based on evidence has to be done and I find it interesting. I don't really pay attention to the speculating done by others that is relayed by anchors of the various networks.

Forgive me for not reading all 107 post. What about the victims? 20 of them worked for a Electronic Warfare and radar defense company. Were they just there by happenstance? They may be useful to someone.

I agree with the ""overkill""......maybe that's all the news they have to report.

Well don't guess you watch Fox News that much ............ Shep has his "own" show now, with a new studio, comes on the same time 3:00 est/2:00 cst! I am an avid watcher of Fox News and they are talking about the plane as well! I too agree, about Brett Baier, I like his guests he usually has to, Charles Krauthmeir (sp).

I wasn't thinking of anyone in particular. Just noticing all of the aviation terms and such being tossed around as though they were common in conversation.
And, of course, then there are the "facts" that have turned out to be "not facts". That's another story.
And I think that would be cruel to keep doing to the families of those lost. "Oh, that thing we said was true 4 hours ago, well it isn't".
