Re: Overkill coverage of plane

Better to have the coverage than not anything at all. Hopefully the passengers are fine, and are being secretly negotiated, and all will be well. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway. Some people feel that the plane landed at a pre-planned secret airstrip. Just listening to radio talk shows.

Re: Overkill coverage of plane

Yes, to me it's overkill. It was the last thing I heard on CNN last night, and was still being discussed when I woke up this morning. We are news junkies in this house, and we are sick of the same topic being covered practically non-stop.

Re: Overkill coverage of plane

We don't get much coverage at all here. Not on major or local stations. (Don't get CNN or those evening news talk TV shows, though.) People tell me I can get it on the Web, but I haven't tried yet.

Re: Overkill coverage of plane

Personally if CNN wants to do coverage on this plane 24 hours a day, I won't utter one word of a complaint. There are all these people 239 who boarded this plane with hope of reaching their destination safe. These people all have family, friends, co-workers all waiting suffering in pain for they have no answers to were these people are. If I had a family member on that plane I would want the news channels to keep beating their drums about this. Someone knows what happened that plane had to show up some where on radar.

Today's media only understands overkill...

And all the overkill later there still are no answers, but really, they have to fill all those hours of 'news'.

I think we are all anxious about it. But there is no news about it. I don't know how they can talk about no news. One can hear the update in 5 minutes or less.

Hi cater, I agree 100%, you and I are usually on the same page. There is an on/off switch for those who aren't interested. I'm praying for the people on board that plane and the loved ones who are anxiously awaiting an answer.

Re: Overkill coverage of plane

I think they know a lot more than they are telling us. I anxiously wait to find out what has happened to all these people. What a sad situation this is. I cannot imagine what these families are going through. If it were me, I would want to find out all I could...every little tidbit.

I agree with this, and perhaps of even more importance is the question about where this plane, and the tactics that occurred before it's disappearance, may turn up again. If this is a terrorist related event, when does the other shoe fall. If someone was able to make this plane "disappear" like this, how was it done, what all parties, organizations, countries, etc might be involved? If this can happen once, what is to keep it from happening with other planes, and for what horrible reasons. As one pundit on TV stated yesterday, if this plane is still intact and somewhere, who do you think is the most likely target of a terrorist use of this (or other planes that they learn to do this with)? The US is.

So for all those on board who innocently boarded a plane for travel, and for all the possibilities that exist that this is so much more than incompetence or tragedy, I think we need to keep pressure on to have it in the spotlight until there are some answers.
