@smoochy

Glad to hear it went well!

Do you know, during my entire painful experience, starting in April when it became apparent that my teeth were indeed abscessed, neither my dentist nor met oral surgeon would RX any pain med.
Instead, they RX Advil double something.

THAT was the very bad part for me...

complications of extreme pain

ie: no sleep and nerve/muscle pain from neck radiating up into scalp...

I believe set off shingles

could not go out for a daily walk at the mall due to tooth pain

from January through July and beyond

so glad it's all over

I hope you have a quick, complete recovery!❤️‍🩹

Re: Oral surgery

Yow, @LTT1

That sounds like a veritable nightmare!

It's awful when patient's are put thru unnecessary pain that could have been, abated, even with the customary necessary Pain Killer!!

I wish you hadnt been put thru that, @LTT1Woman Sad

@JoyFilled Warrior

Thank you

It seems it was a nightmare, looking back.

I assumed the issue was that doctors are afraid of losing their license for rxing pain meds?

But maybe not.

So...I LIVED!

So sorry your oral surgeon didn't give you a RX. Mine gave me a prescription for 30 (!) Oxy and a great super strength mouth wash. He never mentioned anything about salt water rinses like so many on here have done. And I didn't bother with any of the Oxy pain killers since I NEVER had any pain!

Surprising how different the DDS or oral surgeons can be, isn't it?

No you don't. Depends where in the mouth the lost teeth are. You also have to understand that if you leave the space the teeth on either side and above or below will shift. If you are in your 70's you'll probably be ok.  But if you are younger it can be a problem. I was a dental hygienist for over 40 years. A lot of things are involved when extracting teeth.

I had oral surgery about 6 years ago. Had to have a dental implant. It went very well. Since it was oral surgery, it well under our medical insurance. I don't remember what I paid, but it was less than $100 I think. Now the crown I had to have put on after it healed was about $700-800. There was no pain at all. The thing that did hurt was I had a funky little growth on my tongue which was cut or burned off. That HURT!!
