Opening Up Creates New Issues

[ Edited ]

As I reflect on places opening up I see new problem s popping up.  If consumers have no access to hand sanitizer and limited access to cleaning supplies, etc. , venturing out increases exposure and needs.  The more often I go out, the more I need to clean myself and home.

If businesses are opening, do they have access to proper cleaning products, know how to clean, etc?  I have to question whether they all have access.

Everyplace I've been to seems to have supply. I've been to Lowe's, grocery stores, Target, Costco, Walmart. All either have bottles of sanitizer as you enter or exit the store, wipes for the carts or people sanitizing the carts after use. I'm sure they have better connections as to where to get this stuff over us.

Son went back to work and they were told to use the sanitizer sparingly, as there was a short supply.  Well, they shouldnt have brought them back then if they cant protect basic needs.

Many Indurtrial supply places are getting shipments everyday, even N95 masks are starting to become available outside the medical industry.

Re: Opening Up Creates New Issues

From what I have observed when I am out is that companies are going above and beyond cleaning. This is very comforting. I have a concern that I have thought about for awhile and maybe people will think I am off of my rocker but here goes. We are doing damage to our immunity systems by all of this self isolating. We need to use precautions of course but we need to get out. For anyone who does not feel comfortable doing that I completely understand. I am ready to venture out using a mask which I am completely sold that cloth masks are the answer. However, that's our only choice right now. Have never been a fan of hand sanitizers. In this instance I guess we have to use them until we can wash our hands. The longer that we wait for everythng to open up the worse it will be with a whole slew of new issues. I should finish by saying that for someone living in a high risk area, getting out might not be the best choice. There are many of us when the numbers are declining greatly.

@Tricolor : As good as it is to wear a mask that only protects others in case you are asymptomatic. The only thing that will protect you is everyone around you also wearing one.

There are masks, three layers, that can help protect you. Also adding some kind of filter could be beneficial.

Too many are still not wearing a mask and it surprises me when I pass people not wearing one.

Right now, from what I see around my area, it varies from business to business.  Some seem to have plenty of cleansing supplies, others don't.  And the employees themselves vary as to whether they're upholding their part in keeping things sanitary.

Along with starting to announce when various businesses in our state would be able to open, our governor said that there will be a grant available for them to get PPE for each employee and cleaning supplies, such as sanitizers.  I would imagine this is being partly, if not fully, funded by the federal government which would mean it would be available nationwide, although I can't say that for sure.

I have only been to Walmart, Aldi and Costco in the past 2 months.  Aldi and Costco have had an employee wiping down each cart before a customer uses it.  I take my own hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes to use if needed.

My Walmart has Purell wipes and a hand sanitizer dispenser right at the front door so customers can wipe down their cart and hands.

The surfaces are important, but I am more concerned about the dirty air in the stores.  I don't know enuf about heating and cooling systems and air flow to know whether virus is in the air.

I was watching a NJ surgeon on MSNBC this morning.

He was warning to stay out of public bathrooms at all costs.

When a toilet is flushed, all sorts of nasty particles permeate the air carrying the virus.

This would be a very hard place to avoid if you are at work.
