Re: Ok on the subject of dates - how did you meet your SO/husband

Met DH at a professional meeting at the Officers Club MCLB Barstow.  We met for less than 10 mins and exchanged business cards; he invited me to see the recreational facilities at his base, China Lake. 15 months later we married.  Btw my best friend was my Maid of Honor ( she met her husband at the Marine Corps Ball Barstow (the same year).  She and I had known one another 10 years, both of us working DoD overseas.

Re: Ok on the subject of dates - how did you meet your SO/husband

Met DH in my last year of college.  He was a blind date!

He asked me if I minded if he smoked, and I said I really did mind as it gave me migraines.  Unknown to me at the time, he quit the next day!

He had decided I was the right girl for him on our first date!

We married 6 months later, and are heading into year 49!

Re: Ok on the subject of dates - how did you meet your SO/husband

My girlfriends were all getting engaged around the same time and wanted me to go to a bar with dancing that they had met their fiances at. I wasn't too interested in meeting men in bars but one Friday night, I decided to tag along. I saw this handsome man across the dance floor, our eyes locked and he asked me to dance. I had a scotch and water with him and found out we had much in common (other than the Scotch and water) He had dreamy blue eyes and was tall and handsome. I knew on the first date that I wanted to marry him. We have been together ever since and it will be 43 years ago this December that we met.....

Re: Ok on the subject of dates - how did you meet your SO/husband

I posted this before, so I apologize if you've already read it!

It was the summer after I graduated from college. DH had just finished veterinary school. My mom was good friends with the senior veterinary technician. Our cat was bumped by a car. She was badly hurt and needed surgery. We were all so worried about her. The vet tech was also a gourmet cook (as a hobby). He told all of the doctors he would cook them a gourmet meal if one of them would stay overnight with our cat. DH volunteered - young, single, away from home for the first time. Because of my schedule, I couldn't get up to see her before they closed. Mom's friend told me I could go up after hours as there would be "someone" there. So I went up to visit our kitty, who recovered and was in our wedding pics! Good memories!  Smiley Happy

Re: Ok on the subject of dates - how did you meet your SO/husband

My husbands brother went to Annapolis with my brother and they are great friends. I had known him for a while and liked hanging out with him but I really wasn't interested in him at first because I was dating someone else. The more we hung out the more I realized, wow, this is a great guy. And I still feel that way.

I met my DH at a Sunday School party.  We were both students and attended the same university church.  Our pastor suggested to him he might want to meet meSmiley Happy. We got married less than a year later.  He passed away this year. We were married 42 years.
