Re: Ok on the subject of dates - how did you meet your SO/husband

[ Edited ]

The year 1978.  Place, Ketchum Idaho ( Sun Valley really).  I was a ski bum working at a grocery store as a checker. HE was a customer ( ski bum as well) coming through my line OFTEN.  We were both about 23. Both just Sking, partying and working enough to pay the rent, party and ski.   That was all that mattered. Sun Valley/ Ketchum was a party town for the young , aimless   back then, with no real goals other than to have fun.  Remember, it was the late 70's... lots of drugs, lots of everything....goal to have a good time!

Well....we stayed in SunValley for 10 years...settled down...became more respectable... got married...bought a home.... and then moved to Seattle.  Then we really grew up. Masters degree in  Technical Engineering for Hubby... and a wonderful 30 plus year career....me a job I stayed with for 25 years and recently retired.  We have been married now 35 years.

My the stories I could tell about those  young carefree days! Glad I had them before growing up. Some of the best days of my life!

When I was in college.  My roomate used to go on and on about a guy she met.  She used to bore me to death about his looks, his build, etc.  In November I was invited to a party.  I met him.  Went back to my dorm with him.   Yes, it was the same guy.  This was my freshman year.  He was in his last year graduate school.  We got married the following year.

Re: Ok on the subject of dates - how did you meet your SO/husband

We met in 4th grade. Went to school together until I moved away in the 8th grade. I moved back in my senior year. All of my girl friends, that I thought we would just pick up & be friends again, were busy with boyfriends, cheerleading, dance team, etc & it was too late for me to join those things. My husband & his friend started letting me hang out with them. Going to basketball games & things. Always the 3 of us. It was great fun. One day my husband showed up to go to a movie without our 3rd friend. I didn't think anything of it & wondered where Ronnie was? My husband said he thought maybe the 2 of us could go to a movie alone? Oh. Okay. We've been married 36 years. Still great friends with Ronnie.

This gorgeous hippie guy spotted me sitting on a grassy area at college watching a group of Hare Krishnas dance their way through the quad.  He asked me if I wanted an ice cream cone 🍦 and one year later we were married.  We're fast approaching our 45th anniversary.

Ours is a fairy tale story for me!

We met during a conference at Key Biscayne in 1980! Can we say love at first sight?

I was single (and lonely) a long time and so was he!

We were both Air Force radar repair techs and I was his crew chief.  That was almost 40 years ago.

Husband #1...an excuse to get away from my family with man I met who sold me jeans.

Husband #2...oops, what was I thinking, a college crush.

Husband #3...found love then betrayed by a man I met on a blind date.
