Yes they're starting too soon! Feels like its Black Friday and Christmas all year long anymore.

I must confess when the Penny's ad came on my email, I looked thru some of it and was impressed with the sales they will have. I must be crazy but I like to go to the BF sales to people watch. I rarely buy anything oh yes got a tv at Walmart one year.

I'm in retail, it most certainly is not too early to let customers know what to expect.  Nobody is required to act on it.

This year I finished my Christmas shopping early. I have been watching prices on items and found the lowest prices in October. Now these prices are starting to rise until they give discounts you think are a deal but aren't and you wind up actually paying more for the item.

I never shop on Black Friday.

@dex, where in Canada are you from? I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, lived there for 5 years. I came to the U.S. in 1963 with my family & have been here since.

@dex, I've never gotten my citizenship, I'm a legal resident alien. The only thing that I can't do that a citizen can do is vote.
