Oh no Black Friday!

[ Edited ]

I don't care what anyone say's, it's not Black Friday (yet) so don't send me e-mails telling me they are "early" or advertising it as pre-black Friday deals or even mention those 2 words until the Friday comes!

So retailers, what you are telling me is there aren't going to be any better pricing or "deals" on that item and I should buy it now, I don't think so.

I'm waiting and usually I wait all the way until Cyber Monday because I can't trust what is offered on the Friday before.

Sure I say that now but by next week I'll probably forget and just think "they got me"

I agree!  I don't want to hear about Black Friday - it's November 1.  Went to CVS today and all the Christmas stuff was out.  I know some people shop early and even all year, but it's too early for me.

To be talking about Black Friday already is really jumping the gun.

And they are already playing Christmas music on the radio stations.

what retailers are doing, since it's the last quarter before they have to report to share holders, is offering deals on products at a low price, with no restriction on quanity........... and as you make your way to Friday there will be other products, offered at a stupid low price, those items will be limited in quanity........on those products, their soul purpose is to get you in a buying frenzy.....for most retailers, it is their biggest sale of the year and highest grossing holiday........................raven

Growing up Christmas decos were up on Black Friday and not before.  There really were not many sales until after Christmas or in my late 20's they started to mark clothes down on Christmas Eve.  Today all the retailers are ready to decorate in October and have sales all through November and some in October.  Everything today is rush, rush rush and it takes the meaning out of Christmas and also why we buy someone a gift.  Cat Happy

I can't remember when I last shopped a Black Friday sale. I guess it's now a month of "deals." I have had emails and text messages already advertising for early Black Friday. It would make me crazy trying to figure out who has the best prices. I have cut my Christmas gift budget in half and give the bigger gift for birthdays. It works better for me.

I am looking forward to the holidays but like to enjoy the fall decor till the Friday after Thanksgiving. I may put the tree up with just garland and let the little ones light the tree after our Thanksgiving meal. That might be fun. Will give them their ornaments after dinner too. But absolutely no shopping on that special day. I am happy to see that more stores are refusing to open on Thanksgiving Day.

Happy shopping everyone...I hope everyone finds what they want at a good price.

I can't remember where I heard this, but it was said that the best deals are actually available after Christmas, when retailers are trying to clear out existing stock to make room for new, incoming stock.

Isn't it funny how supermarkets and pharmacies set-up Christmas displays the minute Halloween's over?  I went to the supermarket yesterday and it was Christmas!

It has not existed in my world since I stopped working in retail at the mall while still in school.  From the age of 20 until mid 50's have never shopped in a store on black Friday.  I wait and hit cyber Monday.  My Friday day after Thanksgiving ritual is to buy my regular weekly groceries.  No one is at the grocery store the day after Thanksgiving.
