My fellow Libra, @gidgetgh, I remember your talking about this new development. The fact that you are still so interested make me think that this just might be a very good choice for you.

Today I had to make an unpleasant phone call...to child protective services. Several very young, look to be all under 5yo or so, running in the street and unsupervised. One ran in front of an oncoming car and thankfully the car stopped. The toddler just stood there in the middle of the road, in front of the car, until the older toddler brother came over and grabbed her. No adults around. I saw the whole thing from my window and called CPS. No shoes on any of them either. The kids are little terrors in my yard and destructive...no supervision whatsoever. I've had it up to here. Rant over.

@SilleeMee   That is awful!  Have there been previous issues with this family?

Do you love the new house, will it feel like home or is it just a practical choice? Will there be an HOA? How restrictive is it?

Do you have children and grandchildren who will come for visits?

If you lost your husband recently, it's recommended to wait year before making big decisions.

Moving is overwhelming in the best of times, especially downsizing where what to keep and what to let go is so stressful.

Yes. Plus I've had to spend a significant amount of money to fix the damaged things on my property which was done by some other kids from that same family. The little kids out there today are a new batch from a different member from the same family. This has been going on for years.

@SilleeMee  Have you had any significant conversations with any of the parents? I always worry about neighborhood children on my property without parental approval. What if they get hurt?

Another thought...

How much of a deposit do you need to put down on the new place to reserve it?  Could you afford to lose it at a later date if you decided not to move after all?  In some cases, if the housing market is hot like it is now, developers will even give you your deposit back if they can sell the unit at a higher price to someone else.

Or, if it gets finished and at that point you decide you wouldn't want to live there after all, you could sell it yourself.  Brand new ready to go units often sell very well (or even higher than your original purchase price), especially if it's a desirable area.

The only person in that family who I know is the grandmother...? I'm assuming she is the GM but I'm not absolutely sure so I don't feel comfortable bringing it up with her. I don't know any of the other adults in that house and in fact I don't even know if they actually live there. They're always coming and going. Yes, there has been a couple of injuries on my property. One kid from falling out of my tree and the other was a cut from climbing on my fence which caused it to collapse. Both not serious.

What bothers me the most is having to keep looking out my window to check and see if the kids are up to no good. I shouldn't have to do that. But if I don't then there will be more damages or injuries.

Today was a mixed bag of things I got off my to do list...

Finally planted our Zowie Yellow Flame Zinnias over this past hour...whew! Got them all in. There are t-storms in our area so that was a relief. I'll say about 90% of our gardens are done and I'll probably finish the rest up by the end of the weekend.

Here's a close up of a bloom with a Silvery Checkerspot butterfly...

Here's a pic of the area in one of our gardens I plant the Zowie Zinnias...middle section - in the middle...LOL

For those wondering about the long sticks, they are willow branches we set up for the Hummingbirds to perch on when they migrate through in the Fall. Other birds enjoy/use them too Smiley Very Happy

Here's a pic with 3 hummingbirds on one of the curly willow branches...too bad it isn't as clear as I would have liked, but they don't stay in one place for a long time and there is always territorial fighting, so I took the pic fast...shaky cam...LOL

Saw this on Instagram today. I know, it's an awful lot of pink. But it made me want to escape my life and live in this little pink house.

Don't forget root beer popsicles and blue raspberry popsicles from the Good Humor truck. My favorite though was the Creamsicles.
